Gushchin might get another shot. But Bordeleau seems destined to be unqualified at years end.
Bad owners.Bad goaltending, bad coaching, maybe prospects who just aren't as good as believed, I don't know.
I’d rather extend Ceci and Kunin than trade them for 3rds. 2nd id be fine with. I’d rather have Granlund than a late 1st, but if it’s a borderline team (NY, Boston, LA) I think it gets a bit more interesting. Obviously, if any of those guys want out, I’d take lesser value back.
Sturm goes for best pick (guessing 4th/5th), Rutta, a 6th best.
I think they do but I also think that it's not likely going to be available until much closer to the deadline. The type of players Ceci, Kunin, and Sturm are won't have teams pushing to get a deal done for them sooner rather than later like it is for a goalie or some other non-depth player. I'm very confident Ferraro has value around the league but not enough where someone is going to throw us an offer we can't refuse. I think he's worth a 2nd but that's not enough for me to move him until next year's trade deadline when his contract is expiring. Walman and Ferraro as the top two LHD's makes sense the rest of this season unless the unlikely scenario of both Mukhamadullin and Cagnoni convincing Grier they need NHL time. That seems unlikely unless injuries sort of dictate that for them. Even if Mukhamadullin outplays Ferraro, he's not getting outplayed by Thrun and Vlasic is not likely to outplay him either when he gets healthy enough to play. Dellandrea and Grundstrom are throw-in or depth-for-depth sort of trades but at least Dellandrea kills penalties and can play center in the bottom six in a pinch. He's worth keeping as a depth player. Grundstrom shows some offensive ability but hasn't been used outside of even strength. I'd want to move either him or Kostin first to open up roster or lineup spots for kids earning an opportunity. I just don't think they have any trade value on their own and we don't exactly need to trade for depth either. It'd just be shuffling things around so unless someone is an issue in the room or we're swinging a bigger deal, they're likely to stick around.I think Sturm, Ceci, Kunin all have trade value. I think Ferraro likely does too though I suspect they'll want to keep him unless they get an offer they can't say no to or Muhk comes in here and outplays him. I don't think Dellandrea or Grundstrom have shown enough to be traded. And obviously, as we've discussed ad nauseum, Granlund is probably the guy we can get the most for.
All this will lead to like a few thirds unless Granlund is traded which, I guess, is whatever.
I can see Kunin being willing. He expressed it last year when he was an RFA. I'm sure he's wanting long term security that someone is likely to oblige in free agency. We should probably avoid that and get what we can for him. I have a hard time believing that Ceci would want to extend here. I just don't see what we have to offer him to stay that he can't get elsewhere with better short term odds of competing for a playoff spot. Ideally, if we extended Ceci, he'd be a 3rd pairing RHD to partner with Mukhamadullin or Cagnoni or Thrun. What is that really worth to the team when we'll have options at that spot? Granlund is definitely a tough one. At least with him, extending him makes sense on both sides because it's possible Granlund's value outside here is much less both in terms of trade value and what a team is willing to give him in free agency. We can afford to pay him a lot in the short term and I don't think he's viewed as a missing piece to most competitive teams.I’d rather extend Ceci and Kunin than trade them for 3rds. 2nd id be fine with. I’d rather have Granlund than a late 1st, but if it’s a borderline team (NY, Boston, LA) I think it gets a bit more interesting. Obviously, if any of those guys want out, I’d take lesser value back.

Feels like bad timing with Mukh just called up.I was under the impression Pulli was still injured, but maybe he wasn't. Suppose it doesn't matter now.
He was a steady option on defense for the Cuda towards the end of last season, but I don't know that he was going to progress much more than that and our defense is doing very well without him. So, best of luck, Valtteri.

Amazing to think that Pulli was ever a top-20 prospect for the Sharks. He's regressed a little, but was he ever a decent bet to make the NHL?
No. He was always a massive long shot and lacked puck skills.Amazing to think that Pulli was ever a top-20 prospect for the Sharks. He's regressed a little, but was he ever a decent bet to make the NHL?
Too bad about Pulli, thought he had bottom pair potential based on his size and skating. Hard to win a consistent spot on the Cuda defense when you have LDs Schuldt, Carlsson, Shak, Cagnoni and Furlong ahead of you though.
Buy low on Power? He seems to be struggling in Buffalo and with that LD depth it's not getting easier. I could see a Erik Johnson type of a route with being 1st overall and becoming just a solid top 4 defencemen, but also being 1D on young and hungry Sharks team.
If I was Grier I would give it a try.
They need good players in their primes at premium positions signed long-term. Which probably gives some insight as to why they haven't made any big trades so far.I feel like Buffalo is really ripe for the picking right now. The question really is what the hell do they even need?!
