It seems like they're even starting to turn on Peterka. Trouble is that it's hard to see what they'd even be looking for in a trade. Resetting the rebuild for a third time? Vets?Obviously I'm sure they'd be aiming for packaging a bunch of assets for a 25 year old good player, but we don't really have that. We could give them futures or we could give them rentals, and that's about it (as I'm not interested in moving Eklund or Zetterlund).
I forgot about Peterka. Sounds like the Pegulas love him though and they're basically running the day-to-day operations of that team at this point.

Yeah they don't really need more prospects but maybe they would accept futures for Cozens or Power since those guys are underperforming their contracts.

Eklund-Celebrini-Quinn or Eklund-Celebrini-Cozens would be a sick line.

Slash is a bit of an exaggeration. Was more like a tap on the shinpads and saying f you

But read some of this fun
I don't know--I can't really trust anyone who doesn't know how to spell buffoon.

I would try the veteran approach if we trade with Buffalo.
Granlund, Kunin, Sturm, Ferraro, Ceci type of a deal for an under performing youngster.
Not touching any of our prospects, I think Buffalo wants veterans right now to try to push for a first playoff appearance in like 100 years. I would entertain a Granlund as the main piece.
Granlund + Ceci for Cozens + Clifton?

They get a PPG center + a better RD for young C/RW with good size and potential (fits the timeline) and a physical RD. You can add some draft picks here and there. Not sure about the cap but something like this would be a better move than go for a 2nd round draft picks.

EDIT: Just noticed Buffalo are doing worse than I remember... well I don't realistically know if this type of a deal would go through. Maybe they are delusional? You never know. Granlund would help, but Cozens may be too big of a piece to move for a veteran rental. If they were closer to a playoff spot they would go for this just to push. Ceci for Clifton swap would help, but maybe it is Granlund for one of their wingers Peterka or Quinn.

Have Granlund on my fantasy team and I'm not happy he's dropped to the third line. He's been a stud most of the season up until the last week and a bit. Is it time to move on from Mikael?

Nah, at least not right away. Georgiev/Vanecek tandem for now.

There are so many guys I'm dying to pick off the Sabres. Quinn, Cozens, Power, Byram, even Samuelsson as a buy low candidate.
Think you might want to look at Power’s season if you think he is a buy low candidate.

Hate that for Will. He was really adjusting and finding his game. I hope it is not too serious because this lineup is so fun to watch with him in it.
It sounds from Sheng like IR is retroactive to Dec 6, so he's only due to miss tonight and the STL game, but he could be reactivated then. He skated at the end of practice today so it doesn't seem like too big a deal.

With the addition of Kovalenko the Sharks bottom 6 forward group gets even more log-jammed. Questions for the group:

1. Who of the current bottom 6 forward group do you think are reasonably likely to garner interest at the deadline, and what do you think they’ll fetch in return?

2. Do you think Grier will keep Guschin and Bordeleau in the fold for any of those spots, even though it seems neither is really built for the bottom 6 Grier seems to want to deploy? What kind of value do either have on the trade market?

I think Kunin's actually played his way out of here lately. Sturm could get some interest. I'm guessing Gushchin and Bordeleau get one last set of auditions but they also have to compete with Bystedt and Graf now. Best bet would be a prospect swap like they did with Weisblatt.

If by “Kunin’s actually played his way out of here lately” you mean he’s played well enough there might be some reasonable interest in him as a depth option come trade deadline, I agree. I hope he keeps it up, Lol. Recouping anything of value from Kunin seems like gravy at this point.

I would think there would be a market for Ceci as a stable no frills guy on the right side, though I’d be open to re-signing him to something reasonable.

He should get a 3rd if he keeps up this 20 goal pace. I'd happily accept that and get someone like Cardwell or Graf back up to fill in. I hope Ceci also has 3rd round pick value but 3rd pairing defensive depth is in healthy supply.

I think Sturm, Ceci, Kunin all have trade value. I think Ferraro likely does too though I suspect they'll want to keep him unless they get an offer they can't say no to or Muhk comes in here and outplays him. I don't think Dellandrea or Grundstrom have shown enough to be traded. And obviously, as we've discussed ad nauseum, Granlund is probably the guy we can get the most for.

All this will lead to like a few thirds unless Granlund is traded which, I guess, is whatever.

I’d rather extend Ceci and Kunin than trade them for 3rds. 2nd id be fine with. I’d rather have Granlund than a late 1st, but if it’s a borderline team (NY, Boston, LA) I think it gets a bit more interesting. Obviously, if any of those guys want out, I’d take lesser value back.

Sturm goes for best pick (guessing 4th/5th), Rutta, a 6th best.
