Rutta has looked better when not paired with Ferraro. That pairing was a foolish nightmare from the moment it was conceived. So I'm trying to consider that when I think of my feelings about Rutta.

Of course, I'd still rather have Fabbro than him, but I'd rather have Thompson in there than either. And Ceci and Lily are going nowhere for a while as long as they stay healthy. So with that in mind, it is sort of hard to figure out where Fabbro fits in (since it's not like Rutta is desired enough to be traded for with no salary retention at this point in the season).

Seriously, we absolutely had room

Walman-Ceci
Thompson-Fabbro
Ferraro-Liljegren

That has a chance to be much better than any lineup of 6 we've played all year
That 2nd pairing gets throttled with Thompson playing on his off-side and Fabbro isn’t a top four guy so what’s being gained here? It’s not any better than what they’ve been doing.

As much as I would have loved to get Fabbro (on the paper), I think MG respects his players beyond their performance. He wants to find a trade that fits the player too before doing any moves, at least I've got this feeling since there is not a ton of waiver movement from our side. Getting Fabbro would have forced someone down probably. I like that MG is being a good relationship GM, it will help him build a lasting connections in the future. But there is always but, I hope he is more aggressive once there is a window for competion.

Sure, Charmin is soft, but it's also thicker, and more absorbent than most toilet papers, which equates to toughness. It's also great a clogging up the toilet's "neutral zone." So I'm going to take that Charmin reference as a vote in favor of the now not possible Sharks' D.
Charmin is only soft on a superficial level. It's not the dollar store, gritty sandpaper that claims to be tough but falls apart when you buy it.

Having just seen a weird frustrating game without Smith, I have a sneaking feeling that Celly will be on development tomorrow and Smith will slot into his line.

72-64-20
53-2-73
11-21-23
54-7-91

Lastly, I won't speculate on Walman's health, but I'd like to see him back on PP1 when healthy. Feel his trigger is a bit more dangerous and Lily just feels a little less reliable with his decisions/not yet on the same page, even though he's gotten a few dangerous shots through.

So Columbus now has on their RD depth chart:

Provorov
Severson
Jiricek
Fabbro
Carson Cuelemans

I hope Fabbro impresses so much that they give him a deal and they find one of their d prospects expendable and trade Jiricek/Ceulemans to us!!!
Provorov is a lefty. Also contract expires at the end of the year. Not sure why Ceulemans is on this list as he’s 21 and in the AHL.
