Har har, but I'm the one going to the game tomorrow after going today and last Thursday, so no, I'll punch myself in the face thank you very much, and everyone else is free to punch yourselves where you see fit.
I forgot to say please, sorry!

It's funny that Lebanc has 6 points in 10 games, which, extrapolated over 16 games would make him our 3rd highest scoring player.

Not bad for a guy playing 4th line minutes on a bad team.

Problem is with san jose he was over paid by 4 million and could only fit in the top 6 where he was not good enough for.

And he really isn't getting any less ice time then he did here.

He isn’t but I would have been curious to know how War would have treated him and how a leash he would have had considering the leniency he has towards others.

Speaks to the complexity of team structures and opportunity and the variance in that from team to team.
We have structure?

Considering with 2 GM's and 3 coaches, he was treated the same way here. I highly doubt a new coach that was part of the last coaching staff to bench him would change anything.

He would have been painful to watch but I also think he would have been a better wing option for Smith than either Kunin or Goodrow.

Edit:

Labanc didn't fit Sharks team last year and didn't fit the future, but I'm not totally surprised that change of scenery has helped him since this same scenario has happened a ton of times in NHL history.

Labanc always had talent, just lacked consistent effort game to game. Feel he was checked out his last couple years here, glad he is off to a good start tho

I hope going unsigned through the UFA frenzy, the entire offseason, having to sign a PTO, getting dropped, and then a 1 year vet minimum deal on opening night motivates Labanc to make some adjustments to his game.

If he could consistently bring the intensity and consistently needed to just be a mid-tier bottom six guy defensively, he has the offensive chops to carve out some good years as a bottom six scorer. Guys with that profile, like a Lee Stempniak, stick around in the NHL.

Buttery soft bottom six scorers who are a complete liability in their own end and the coach’s automatic pick to serve team infractions don’t stick around too long.

This is a hard forward group to manage. There are so many prospects coming down the pipeline that you don't want to bloat your books with overpaid forwards who are standing in their way...but at the same time, icing a very inexperienced roster is a recipe for disaster.

I feel like that's part of why Warsosfky is having issues with Smith.

Or ya know Smith’s issues are from him not being quite NHL ready and having big unrealistic expectations from people who didn’t watch him in college. Anyone that watched him in college could tell you although he’s too good for the NCAA, he’s not NHL ready or at least not in an impactful way.

So, shouldnt you put him with 2 of your better forwards instead of whatever it is they keep doing

So you put him with say Eklund and Toffoli (who I think are our 2 best wingers) suddenly he’s facing top competition in the NHL. Or at the very least second lines. Personally I say let him play against bottom sixers.

I think the upgrade in linemate quality would far outweigh the disadvantage of facing 2nd defense pairs instead of 3rd.
