Think this finally settles the Makar vs. Fabbro debate?

This may very well be the reason no claim is made by us. Maybe Grier was talking to TOR for Lily and NSH for Fabbro and went with Lily and is now "happy" with the right side. With SJ off the list, no trade partners for Fabbro (although you'd think there might have been...).
That wouldn't surprise me at all. I'm in the "why not both" group, but Grier may not be.

I won't be satisfied until both Ferraro and Rutta are gone, though.

Great find.

Came here to say the same thing.

Walman- Ceci
Muhk - Fabbro
Ferraro/Thrun - Liljegren

This would make me very happy.

What happened with Fabbro, why has he fallen off so much?

He's a classic case of mediocre physical tools. Not a fantastic skater, not physical. He's very average medium #4D.

Apparently practice got the smithlund line

Dellandrea-Celebrini-Toffoli
Eklund-W. Smith-Zetterlund
Kunin-Wennberg-Goodrow
G. Smith-Sturm-Grundstrom

You love to see it.

Kunin-wennberg-goodrow is just such a pure shutdown line that it makes way more sense, especially now that Smith might be more reliable at 5v5 without the puck. Let's hope it works better for everyone's sake.

love it. didn't think they'd try this out so early. maybe a little surprised they're keeping Granlund with Celebrini though.

Add me to the list of people that think the Sharks should most definitely claim Fabbro. To me getting Lily doesn't mean anything here. Fabbro is free, it's a no brainer.

Someone in my league dropped Toffoli for some reason. I already have Celebrini. Are these two going to work well together? Perusing your game day threads here and there I saw someone said that Toffoli is really confident this year, like he's certain he'll score every chance he has... and that sounds reassuring to me. This guy gonna keep banging them home this season?

He's confident alright. Fool tried to steal the glory from Celebrini's first goal last night trying to bang it in when it was already going in.:sarcasm:

Fabbro isn't free. He costs ~$2.5M in salary, a roster spot, a contract slot and TOI/opportunities that could be going to Thompson, Mukhamadullin and Thrun.

Aren’t you generally of the mind that if the young guys can’t beat out the likes of Mario Ferraro, Rutta, etc, they’re not ready/not good enough? Just add Fabbro to the list.

I don't necessarily disagree, just pointing out that's one of the consequences of claiming him.

Acknowledging that the Sharks D is really weak, especially on the right side, and that I have not watched him play outside of any games against the Sharks, I’m not sure Fabbro is an automatic claim for the Sharks.

I’m not seeing anything that screams gotta claim this guy, other than his draft pedigree. It seems like he’s had plenty of time in Nashville to claim a regular spot in the lineup and it hasn’t happened. If his on-ice performance/eye-test says he’s a good player I don’t know why he’s being waived, unless there’s some off-ice issues.

And while Nashville isn’t overflowing with cap space, it appears they have some wiggle room. If he’s a player, why can’t Trotz make even some low level trade? No other team has a reclamation project or depth veteran they’re willing to offer that Trotz finds even some utility in adding to an underperforming win-now team? Seems to me like the league doesn’t assign much value to Fabbro.

I’d say no to claiming Fabbro. I’d think about signing him in the off-season but I don’t think he has rental value and he’s not filling some needed role.
