Is that Quinn's fault though? I'm not sure how you can rearrange the forwards from that tweet in a way that avoids having three 4th lines.

Could definitely see Vlasic getting waived this season, which I wouldn't have said two weeks ago.
First season he can be waived too. NMC up until this year. Had to double check but it looks like just a MNTC

Hoffman is a much bigger problem than Kunin.

I honestly don't mind the 1.7 hit in 26-29 to dump him now. He's just a bad reminder of the debacle of the last five yers with no redeeming value.

I'm just interested to see how Warsofsky deploys things as the interim HC when Quinn gets fired on October 30th after we start the season 0-9

Mans is getting Todd Richards'd as f***

I am definitely rooting for a full pitt meltdown this year so the condition kicks in. Odds are, if that happens, the year after they could be even worse. It's a long shot, but it could be a top 10 or 5 pick in that case. Else 11 next year is good :)
100%, Depending on how much the cap goes up next year they could be a pretty bad team overall.

Being bad for so long starts to really wear on ownership and organization loyalty. Id rather not be bad much longer if I’m being honest. Getting Smith, Musty, Haltunnen, and potentially one of these top picks in 2024, should be a sufficient foundation for the future. We’ve got Muk, Cagnoni, and at least one other D prospect who will eventually flash. Grier should really try to improve the talent on this roster next summer. My opinion.

I think Grier will start making moves to improve the roster beginning next offseason. We will have a surplus of assets that can and should be traded for an established starting goalie and/or top four defenseman aged 25 or under. Of course it's rare those players become available.

I don't think we have a choice but to be bad for a while, because we were left in an utterly bereft position after spending three years refusing to face facts and begin the rebuild.

This is Year One of the rebuild - we've only just begun the process with the trades of Meier and Karlsson.

We are too far away to even begin thinking about competing. Smith is probably two years away and then another year before becoming an impact player. Musty and Cagnoni are probably on the same timeline and are unlikely to be as impactful. We have Eklund now, Mukhamadullin maybe next year, Gushchin and Bordeleau and maybe someone like Robins maybe next year but unlikely to be really significant pieces. Our top pick this year will need at least a year, maybe two.

The fact is that this year we are going to challenge the worst teams in the history of the NHL, and next year we will probably be just as bad, no matter what we do. Trade Smith+Eklund for, I don't know, Rantanen and Fox (wildly, wildly insane trades, which is my point) and we're still awful. There is just too much hill to climb to even think about how we are going to take a picture on the summit.

Everyone, management and fans alike, must prepare themselves for not even sniffing the postseason until 2028, maybe 2027 if we're really lucky.

This is the drumbeat. We are Pittsburgh in 2003, Chicago in 1999-2005, Avs in 2010-2016, devils 2014-2020. It's dark and it's staying dark and players take a long time to get to prime, but if you do it right, you build a perennial contender. 2028 we should be competing and exciting but not yet contending (top 5 odds for a cup), 2030 contending, if we do it right.

I’m actually not. It’s been so hard not having anyone to root for so I’m kinda hoping EK takes Pittsburgh far.

Correct me if I’m wrong but don’t both teams have that in the trade clause?

Pittsburgh is top 10 protected, so we either want them to end up in 11th place or do worse and then have their unprotected pick next year, which I assume is going to be very high.

Devils is a 2nd round pick unless they hit the conference finals.

I feel like the most Sharks thing would be for the pens to miss, get a top pick, then next year make a deep run in the playoffs.

BUT, i have a hard time believing that they will be better next year. Aging core gets older, Guenztel needs a new deal and they'll need a new 3C.
