Dude, when the Bruins went through their "retool" they had 3 1st rounders. This decade so far has gotten some Sharks fans so down bad we're celebrating an extra 1st rounder when that's the LEAST that should be accumulated.
Damn, why didn't Mike Grier just think to inherit 22 year old Dougie Hamilton and 27 year old Milan Lucic and trade them for 1sts? What a f***ing moron. He should be fired immediately.

They also had much better pieces. He’s gotten 2 extra first rounds by the way not one. Which is exactly what the bruins had.

Grier’s strategy has clearly been to stock up on players he can flip for picks at the TDL. Any assessment of this team’s draft prospects pre-TDL is just complaining for the sake of complaining.

They didn't have better pieces. Like I said earlier, Grier was incredibly fortunate enough to inherit even Karlsson and Meier when most GMs who inherit rebuilding teams only have Hertl/Couture. Teams like the Canadians/Coyotes have had things like "13 picks in the first 3 rounds the next 2 years!" when nothing even close could be said about the Sharks.

Most of those players won't/can't be flipped, and if so, will be flipped for pennies.

They really knocked those picks out of the park, didn’t they.

Karlsson was the worst contract in the league when Grier was hired. Yet you seem to only remember how him and Quinn helped rebuild his value.

EK65 looked like the worst contract in the league a couple of years ago. LOL @ being so fortunate.

Bruins had 2 extra `st round picks, the Sharks have gotten 2 extra firsts so far.
Correct, which is why I specifically said "retool". The Bruins were not even rebuilding and accumulated the same amount assets. The Sharks are the second worst team in the league in a downright rebuild, have been bad the past 4 seasons prior, and still don't really have a hopeful structure for the future. That was my point. It's not good. Doug treaded the pre-rebuild, and MG is trending in the direction of treading the rebuild.

Not going to start arguing about Karlsson LOOOOL. He was the worst contract at the time and still is (well, the second) but the bottom line was he was an ASSET for Grier.

I have given Grier a ton of flack for some of his moves, especially before the Timo move. Since then I’ve been relatively happy with his moves. I think some people are definitely stuck on their “what if” situations. I still hate the Megna move, some of his signings, and some of his hires but oh well. Overall he’s done a good job.

So, Washington put Kuznetsov on waivers and while I know he's become a bit of a toxic player and he's got another year left at 7.8 but would you be interested in bringing him aboard as a possible reclamation project? Perhaps if he clears, maybe trading Hoffman for him and a 3rd or something? Wouldn't hurt to try another buy-low center option.

I would be open to taking him on but I wouldn’t do it for less than a 2nd. I’d try for a first actually just because of the huge hit but I’d settle for a 2nd.

I get it, but he's also still only 31 and clearly he's in need of a change of scenery. The team has a ton of cap space, especially if Logan's career is done.

I agree with your points, but you still make Wash pay to clear that big cap number. I think it's worth a first but would take a second if they retained a few million. Maybe we get lucky and flip him

Fair, my only concern is if another team claims him before there’s a trade offer. I do think he has value to a team hell even like Vegas who would be thrilled to not have to dip into their weak prospect pool to get someone to replace Stone.

Forwards peak at 24 and their primes are over by 28-29 on average. 31 is an old geezer by NHL standards. Not to mention all the off ice issues. He's cooked.

Pfft so the dude likes a little nose candy every now and then. It’s not illegal.
Caps have been desperately trying to get rid of him for years, even back when he was still performing like a 1C. There's gotta be more to the story. I'd stay away.

Ok, would you take him at 50% with an additional 2nd?

I feel like there’s no chance anyone claims him. That’s so much money for someone whose stats are just not good. His PK stats are good outside of that it’s barely NHL level.

No but I would trade Couture (no salary retained) for him.
Hm... that's an interesting proposal. I doubt Logan agrees to it though

I get it. Maybe I just see his decline more the mental aspect than the physical. I think he still has the tools to be more than competent, but the off-ice stuff and toxicity probably makes it not worth it.
