Speculation: 2023-24-25-26 Sharks Roster Discussion

I just proposed a trade on the trade boards that went something like:

Calgary: 4th OA from Buffalo for 6th OA+Farabee
then
Buffalo: 6th OA to SJ for 9th OA+Wennberg

If we get Hertl for the Avs 2nd he'd be a perfect replacement for Wennberg.

If we come out of the Draft with one of Stenberg/McKenna, one of Reid/Carels, and Hertl, while giving up just Eklund and Wennberg that'd be the best possible outcome.

I wouldn't really like #9 for Hronek. He's a proven player and has a great contract, but his age is a bit of an issue. Who is the next Noah Dobson?

After seeing Hertl in the playoffs, Vegas should have to pay someone to take him.

I’m not sure 29 is that old for a defenseman, I don’t know. Obviously I’d love someone younger but #9 in a so so draft for a few years of a high end #2 isn’t a bad deal.

Man it really hurts that we got outbid on Byram.

Turning Eklund + 20OA into Byram and Kesselring and adding those two and Stenberg to the roster would have made us a playoff team.

GMMG needs to pull off something big with all this draft capital.

I think if he’s in on Byram he’s in on Hronek, Werenski, etc. The question is if he can swing it, of course. Hronek’s felt like the guy to me for a while, but we’ll see if he waives.

I’m holding on to Cam Robinson’s quote and just the general vibe that Grier is cooking.

yea that's a legit offer from Grier till KD lost his mind.
9 + 27 perhaps is Hronek range if he waives perhaps or someone else but happy to keep picks and stay patient.

We don't know who the prospect was but in terms of pick value 9+27 is actually pretty close to 4+45

Guessing Crevier being better than whoever we were offering tipped the scales in Chicago's favor

Hronek would be solid but 3 years older than Byram without any remaining upside and like you said he might not even waive

Wow! WTF was going while I was sleeping?!?!
Byram to CHI was overpayment, but I guess they wanted to double down on defence and not let Sharks have him... MG was very close, I would've loved Byram for 9th overall, 27th overall deal.

I think MG is just getting started, he'll probably go for a big fish but we'll have to see if it's good enough.
 
For 9+27+ there aren’t many targets left that seem likely….if Grier is dead set on bringing in a top D for immediate help I would look at Harley, could even take on Lyubushkin as a cap dump to help facilitate the trade. Only happens if the Stars are looking to free up cap space for Robertson or maybe they can use the cap space and the draft picks to bring in a Larkin.

I think it will be Harley to be honest. He's signed to that 10mil contract, but he'll be the right age and will get guaranteed 1D spot unlike with the Dallas because of Heiskanen.

Was thinking the same thing

9 + 27 + top 10 protected 2027 1st for Harley + Lyubushkin + Faksa

Stars flip 9, Bourque and other stuff for Larkin while still having enough room left over to keep Robertson

Probably a pipe dream though
