Check back in five years, the thing with Bonk is he was drafted based on his IQ, defense and body projection, I don't think anyone expected this kind of offense out of him. If he's for real, he'd be a good partner for Sanheim down the road. The stay at home guy who can sneak up the weak side and make plays.

tbf these don't include his bumper stats.

Sotheran apparently has fantastic numbers but his card isn't up yet.

When in the season? He's been steadily improving, not surprising for 19 year olds.

Sotheran is interesting, having a solid D+1 season, 6'3 198 RHD when drafted.
Gendron was a little over his head in the AHL, but tearing up the Q on his return, he's not really overage, just turned 20 in December.
McLaughlin score 1.09 PPG at 20 for Notre Dame, 6'0 161 when drafted so time to fill out
Mann, the 6'6 229 D-men they drafted, isn't playing badly, long-term project but not a complete stiff
McDonald, overage 6'4 205 LHD, now 21, top college defensive defenseman
Sulku, after a year off, scoring in Mestis
Avon, UDFA, Samson 6th rd, holding up in the AHL

Given the odds of a picks past #100 making to the NHL and sticking is like 20:1, not a bad job

In fact, the middle rounds are more discouraging, players like Kaplan, Bump, Knuble, Wisdom, Millman, Zanetti, Murchison haven't shown much.

If you saw rhe recap, his 2nd goal was a ripper, from the same spot as Tippett and Foester. As everyone says, his 1st goal was loose puck from bumper position.

Barkey has at least one game suspension, feisty MFer.

Honestly, I hope he becomes a top 4 mainstay. He's got a cool ass name.
Well, his dad was a pretty good player and a big, strong man, so if Ollie fills out at all, he's going to be a beast, with his hockey sense and budding O.

Not sure if this is the correct thread but anyone have thoughts on Massimo rizzo? Projections?
I've seen about 7 or so games from Rizzo and been keeping an eye on him through twitter.

He's an awesome passer with great vision. Offensively mature - often times does something positive with the puck. Also loves when the puck is on his stick, he actively taps the ice when the puck isn't on his stick. Good puck handling too, is used to enter the zone on the PP, and is a half-wall player. Decent defensively as well.

on CBS Sports on Friday Denver (Rizzo) plays against North Dakota (McLaughlin). I'll be watching that game.

I have no idea about projections. His scoring is great, but he's also 22. Get him some time in the AHL and see how he does.

What's his skating look like? That was his biggest knock.

I'm not a skating expert, but it seems fine. He has decent lateral movement, lacks top end speed, but isn't slow. Acceleration is just okay. I don't think it will skating that prevents him from being an NHL player, but he'll need to play with urgency. He's clearly playing well enough at the college level, but I just wonder will he be able to process at the NHL level.

The fact that most highlights come on the PP is also somewhat concerning, but full disclosure - I don't know his splits of PP vs ES scoring. It could be one of those incorrect gut feelings I have... I also think he'll be converted to a winger at first. We'll see.
