2023-24 #2: Phantoms (AHL), Reading Royals (ECHL), NCAA, Jrs., Int'l, etc.

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

So is this a reasonable -- actual, not ideal -- estimated Phantoms line-up? I prioritized signed players and plugged in the best options of the RFAs.

Forwards

Olle Lycksell - Jacob Gaucher - Cooper Marody

Rhett Gardner - Massimo Rizzo - Samu Tuomaala

Jon-Randall Avon - Anthony Richard - Alexis Gendron

Elliot Desnoyers - Rodrigo Abols - Sawyer Boulton

Zayde Wisdom

Defense

Emil Andrae - Ronnie Attard

Hunter McDonald - Helge Grans

Adam Ginning - Ethan Samson

Xavier Bernard - Sam Sedley

Goal

Cal Petersen

Keith Petruzelli

Parker Gagahen

Alexei Kolosov ???

I’d sooner dress current version of Bernie Parent.

I don't think these will be the lines, but it's not completely off from what I have. I kept things consistent from last season, with new additions. I went through the depth chart on my podcast, but I had it something like this.

Thanks very much for your reply, HoH. I appreciate a more informed perspective on these projections. Here's hoping your goaltender optimism comes to fruition.

Amazing how many straight up nothing players they've drafted.

Why is the goon Richard so high up in the line-up?

Richard is a AHL plus speedy center who is a star at the AHL level but has never made it in the NHL.
He'll help LHV, and provide a center for a number of wings who do have a shot at the NHL.

Yeah as LHV is stacked with winger prospects.
Not every prospect is a top six candidate!
Most picks are a success if they play 200+ NHL games in the bottom six.

TK never played in the AHL. Farabee (5 games when he turned pro), Michkov won't.
Foerster and Tippett played one season at 20-21.
Cates at 23 when directly to the NHL out of college.

Who in LHV that plays on the wing you see playing 200 NHL games.

Amazing how many straight up nothing players they've drafted.
They didn't even spell Hunter McDonald correctly...why are you listening to internet scouts about the potential of your draft pool? It's incredibly difficult to predict draft picks, especially for every team in the league. I like Scouching, but this list is such nonsense.

Toumaala looked great last year in the AHL, Powell could end up being better than anyone thinks, Bump has been great and Flahr called him an NHL player...meanwhile Wisdom has barely cracked the AHL lineup...I would not take this tiered list seriously at all.

Happy to share, I'm sure the lineup will be different from what I put together, that's a guess, but I do believe I have the team roles accurate. We will see what happens during training camp.
