Well I'd get used to him being injured. It's a pretty big trend of his the last few years.
Trends have a habit of being broken. Just look at Tkachuk and Eichel this playoffs. This year honestly was so weird. I'm waiting for next season to see what trends continue and which were just anomalies in the year from hell.

I'm willing to see how this next season goes before I write the contract and him off. Manson can be a playoff monster and was a big part of why we got over the hump. Remember all the talk of being too soft after the Vegas series?
Yeah and I thought that was mostly a garbage narrative. The Avs lost that series because of bad depth and Grubauer completely falling apart after game 2.

I won’t deny though that Manson had some great moments last postseason and played a key role in the Avs finally winning it, I will never say anything bad about the trade that got him to Colorado, however, extending him was a huge mistake that will be proved soon enough.

This is literally Eichel’s first playoff run.

Manson was so F good in his prime, it is kinda a shame to see what he is today. Big, physical defensemen over 30 age like raw milk in a heat wave. He’s not good today. Makes some hits and thats all the good he brings now… it doesn’t negate the bad.

I still want Brayden schenn that’s my hopeful. St. Louis might be going into rebuild. He brings grit and isn’t a black whole ofensively. What do you all think his value is?

I just started watching Star Wars for the first time over the last few weeks. It’s pretty good and I’m enjoying them but this Chewbacca fool is in the conversation for most annoying character in movie history.

Uhm, don't want to spoil anything but wait until you get to the Ewoks and Jar Jar if you want to see annoying characters.

He did come back to the playoffs injured. Regular season he's mediocre, but i'll give him another chance at redemption next playoffs when guys like Manson/Chiarot/Gudas/etc. become gold. Even if we complain about Manson, imagine having guys like Staal, Suter, Miller, etc. in the top 4 instead.

The cap space is simply too critical at this juncture. Every deadline there are a few of these guys available. Add them then and let them walk. Don’t get tied up in a bad contract that keeps you from filling more critical positions. Manson is an anchor to building the team… to the point where now the Avs can’t afford proper centers despite MacK’s sweetheart deal. Let alone next season.

Jar Jar rocks.

"The new brand of street crack that makes you talk like Jar Jar Binks has completely taken over the market police say."

"Every user we bring in to the station identifies themselves the same way. It's become a real problem trying to figure out who these people are", says one detective."

Yep. I remember last summer when the Avs re-signed Manson how happy people were about it.

Little did they know we just latched ourselves onto yet another boat anchor of a contract, just as we were about to finally get out of our last one with EJ.

Its crazy how much that contract is crippling us already.

I wouldn't call it a boat anchor, but it is detrimental - mainly due to his health. Top 4 stay-at-home RHD don't grow on trees (even if he's closer to a 4/5). Based off the contract structure the FO expected to get two runs and then move on afterwards, but they didn't factor in Manson's health which is the biggest mistake.

In theory this year would have been fine even with Manson's contract, CMac just failed at the TDL and there was tons of bad luck. Manson's contract is going to hurt this year, but it will still be moveable next offseason assuming his play doesn't drop off a cliff.

Fun HFAvs fact. Dubas who was GM for 5 years and achieved basically nothing except signing Tavares to a handcuffing contract is a solid GM. Meanwhile, CMac who has been GM for one season is f***ing shit because he didn't make any significant moves. Weird how other guys get the benefit of the doubt while some want CMac fired after one season, despite everything he did to help win us a cup before becoming GM. I like this place.
Dubas knows analytics, so obviously any failures are on those philistines who stood in the way of his vision.

Good god, it's Schrodinger's Trade Capital, simultaneously enough to have filled all the holes at the Deadline, but not enough to do anything to improve the team in the offseason.

Chewy is a legit 4C/enforcer though. Avs could use that.

From an asset management standpoint, if you could choose for him to have a healthy year in one of his first two seasons, you'd want him to be healthy in the second season (ie this upcoming season) because it ends as his NMC/NTC expires.

The problem is, there's no guarantee he plays more than 30 games this year. Over the last three years, he's played 23, 67, and 27 games. The 67 was in a contract year. At some point, you have to wonder.

Pokes a hole in the perception that bigger guys are more durable.

I said right after the trade that I hoped they didn’t re-sign him. It is a mistake to lock into these types of defensemen. This signing was key in not being able to keep Kadri or attack the 2C spot in the summer.

There's no telling how good Kadri would have been this year. He could have repeated his career year, or he could have ended up producing like he did in Calgary. Had we signed him to what he wanted and he produced the way he did, everyone would be furious. Pretty much everyone realized last year was an anomaly as far as Kadris production goes. But now we want to pony up at least 7x7, even though if I recall the ask was higher than he ended up getting. He's already 32. I feel like people have a shortterm memory around here. Kadri priced himself out of Denver, irrespective of Manson.
