Tomas Tatar would add some scoring punch to the 3rd line.
I've got questions for you.

Did you ever wonder why he was a healthy scratch in the playoffs in Vegas in 2018 (when they reached the cup finals)?

Why he was a healthy scratch in Montreal in 2021 (when they also reached the cup finals)?

And why he got healthy scratched in the playoffs in NJ as well?

Do you want to win the cup or you want "scoring punch" in the regular season?

WTF are the Kings doing? I thought they couldn't wait for Kopitar's contract to expire.

With Kopitar, PLD and Danault all signed for 3+ years in front of him, Byfield might as well ask for a trade...and I'm not even talking about Turcotte.

Or they ask Danault to waive his NMC....

I really don't think Tarasenko would accept 1 year 3M offer here, not at age 31 (and his ego).

But if he were to accept that we'd have a hell of a top 9.

Drouin - Mack - Nuke
Tank - RyJo - Rants
Wood - Colton - Lehky

That's a Stanley cup winner top 9.

Talk about a second line that needs heavy offensive usage lmao. Whatever though.. If they get to the offensive zone they can just play keep away until they score.

I'd take a flier on Zadina, his underlying metrics were actually decent.

You know Nuke's defensive numbers on Dallas were good if I remember right. He just couldn't score.

Zadina is a weird one, it looks like lack of hockey IQ like some people thought about Nuke too.

I personally gave up on the "maybe this is the year" that shot breaks through, way before they did lol.

How come CMac’s post free agent presser is not available on the Avs site? Where can I find it?

Omg.. that has been pissing me off for days. The Athletic has the most I've seen in print IRRC.

Lol never change, LA.

Kopitar is a hell of a player but until they get someone who doesn't suck complete ass in net, they will continue to be 1st round fodder for the Oilers/whoever they play.
To be fair, I think you said the same about Vegas and their goaltending.

LAs goaltending is a problem, but in the playoffs, a guy playing well for a few weeks isn’t out of the question.

Really the only spots that could potentially be open are 3RW and 4C. If we sign/trade for a 3RW that pushes O'Connor down and Olofsson to the bench. Same with Meyers if we sign/trade for a 4C.

Problem is, there arent really any exciting options left in free agency. Tomas Tatar would add some scoring punch to the 3rd line. If he would come cheap I'd be all for it. He can play up and down the lineup too incase injuries hit. Maybe even bring back Malgin. He showed well after we traded for him. Or sign them both.

Get one or two more top 9 forwards and I think we are set

Drouin- Mackinnon- Rantanen
Lehkonen- Johansen- Nichushkin
Wood- Colton- Tatar
O'Connor- Cogliano- Malgin
-------
MacDermid
Meyers
Olofsson

Toews - Makar
Byram - Manson
Girard - Johnson
-----
Hunt
Malinksi

Georgiev
Francouz
-----
Justus Annunen

Much better options than Tatar left.

That's the main issue with his game... he's really not good at anything. There is nothing in his game to hang his hat on at the NHL level and make a career on. His shot is useless because first off, it isn't that great to begin with... but more than that, he takes his shots away from scoring areas because he's not willing to go to them.

One thing that points to Zadina having something click though is if he's with a couple good finishers, there should be a decent uptick in production. There are some micro stats on shot assists and chances in scoring areas that have an uptick compared to players around the NHL. You put him with Pasta and Zacha... you might see his assists jump as he feeds Pasta who can score from anywhere and Zacha can dirty area play quite well. He will have to be spoonfed those minutes though.

I was going to say he reminds me of a slightly better Martin Kaut.. Has some good moments but is mostly meh..

Well, we have to have players that can get us to the playoffs. And the way our guys get injured, Tatar would likely end the season on the 1st line.

Imagine if Landy comes back for the playoffs? Wood gets bumped to the 4th line, and they have the luxury of choosing between Cogs and LOC. Or maybe they try Cogs as 4C like Helm?

This is an absolutely stacked lineup. Probably even beats their Cup roster.

Drouin - MacK - Nuke
Tank - RyJo - Mikko
Landy - Colton - Lehky
Wood - Cogs - LOC

Byram - Makar
Girard - Manson
Toews - Malinski
JJ

Georgiev
Francouz

Can we have Turcotte as a 4C please?

Reactions: Colorado Avalanche

The soon to be 25 year old defenseman they just signed as a college UFA, who had 3 goals 5 points in 7 regular season games, and then 5 assists/points in 7 playoff games for the Eagles.

Also CMac just said this on the radio today:

"This year there will probably be some more of an opportunity for young guys at camp, the Ben Meyers, the Olausson's, the Malinski's of the world to come in and make a statement at camp. We're gonna need guys like that and their AAV's to make a dent into our roster here at some point in the next few years."

At first I was livid we kept the picks, but I never expected the roster to look this good without it.

Newhook for a damn 1st.. I'm still fkn floored by that and Ryjo at 50% for free.

That's one thing that kicks this over the top is adding players who have some potential to contribute on ELCs instead of trading out guys that are close.

It will go a long way if we can keep competing for the cup in a legit way, and keep doing that.

I'm just waiting to see what he pulls off to sign Colton, and finish off the roster before I move back to a 4.

Sammy G traded for futures?

Sammy G traded for futures?

Whoops, I had a feeling I forgot someone. Even better lineup, though I worry a bit about the size on the blueline for the playoffs. Regular season it's fine.

Part of why I think the best move is to try and replace Sammy with a LD with size that can play in the top 4.

Difference is Vegas played unbelievable hockey in front of Adin Hill, whereas Los Angeles isn't exactly stifling teams anymore - especially on the PK.

Vegas was doing anything and everything to block shots, disrupt offense and insulate Hill. Now that he's their regular guy next season I honestly believe they will be in tough to fight for a wildcard spot because he is not good.

LA keeps ignoring the goaltending position thinking their team is good enough. It is not. Not good enough to mask their trash goaltending.
