For those who would like the Avs to sign Wood NJ fans on the main board say that he is done, he is so bad now and he is one of the dumbest player as well as taking really bad penalties.

Don't shoot me down here, I don't get to see lots of hockey in the UK, but why are so many people wanting Drouin? He's dog shit by now, isn't he?
Surely were not just hoping to re-ignite the chemistry from Halifax?
I don't think that many people here really want to sign him, it's that The Avs have been linked to him for so long, that they expect him to be signed.

The boss is out of office today and I've set myself up to be out of office "on assignment" all afternoon.

Which means the Avs will do nothing until the actual draft later on this evening right?
I screwed myself by not working yesterday afternoon. Ended up having to work until 11PM last night to get the stuff done I needed to.

Probably the same thing happening today :biglaugh:

It would be such an Avs thing to keep the picks and re sign Compher.
I hope for CMac's sake that he doesn't hold onto those picks.

Teams ready to/attempting to win now don't need picks that might help 3-4 years from now.

If CMac takes all 3 of those picks he should be fired on the spot, especially after last season.

The prevailing idea is yes the Halifax thing. It's assumed MacKinnon would advocate for him. It's also assumed he'd be cheap. And mgt loves bargain shopping as they've had some success with reclamation projects. Not always though.

The cap space is more limited now. Roster spots are also finite. It's certainly a risky and questionable move. The default justification seems to always be that MacKinnon will elevate him.

It's a combination of (3) factors:

  • The Avs being linked to Drouin forever due to the MacKinnon/Halifax connection
  • Colorado having so much success as the island of misfit toys (Burakovsky, Nichushkin, etc.)
  • The club's limited cap space
Even with a measly (2) goals last year, Drouin still paced for 41 points. As a bargain bin option, it's at least intriguing to think what he could do next to old friend MacKinnon.
