So much for Tampa signing this guy long term for super cheap.

Didn’t we all think that’s why they traded so much to get him?
That trade was a disaster. Jeannot obviously knows what they gave up for him and so he held all the cards at the negotiation table..

At 2.66M they give him more that what he deserves and still couldn't buy more than 1 UFA year. That's terrible.

Re-sign him, keep G for the season and cup run next summer, then trade him at the draft.
They’ll probably have no other choice but to trade Girard. Toews contract is up next year, Mikko is up the following year. If Mikko has another 50+ goal and 100 point season, what the hell is he gonna cost? They’re not gonna resign him to another 9 mill contract. It’s gonna be 10 to 11 mill at least

Man Anthony Deangelo has had quite the career so far
- 1st round pick
- 5 NHL teams (although never played for TB who drafted him)
- Traded three times
- Suspended twice
- Cleared waivers three times
- Bought out twice

And he's only 27... and tied for 22nd among dman PPG since 2016

Apparently there was soooo many good NHLers on cheap contracts available that worrying about the lack of moves and depth was pointless.

Well...?...

There still are.

And the Avs have cap space, and roster space.

So…?…

The Avs signed ERod in September last year.

CMac may be only able to get a one year deal with Colton, which will walk him right into UFA status. Players (and their agents) do not seem like they want to give up flexibility with the expected cap increase coming next summer. His agent also represents William Nylander.

They are not many good players in our price range left. The names mentioned here have pretty much all been signed. And we have barely any cap space until we make some.

Sorry, I don't share the optimism. Being slightly better than last year is not close to be enough.
