Think another top 6 forward is the obvious need. The Debrusk-Poitras combo does a very good job of driving play at 5v5 regardless of who the third guy is, think if you put another top 6 scorer with those two you'll see that line start scoring much more frequently. Not sure who that guy will end up being cause we're so far from the deadline, but that should be the prioirty IMO. Maybe we'll get lucky and it'll be Lysell, but even then I dount Monty will want two smaller rookies on a line together come playoffs.
Will Geekie add positively to the DeBrusk - Poitras combination when he returns from injury?

almost definitely. Geekie has been great where DeBrusk is, and DeBrusk can play left quite well. should be a very good line.
Debrusk-Poitras-Geekie has played like 30ish min together and has had very good results. So yeah it's a combo that works.

Question: What is the current team's identity? We just celebrated the "Big Bad Bruins" identity era, then there is the "lunch pails guys" era and "Borque's Bunch" ... any suggestions on what we currently identify as? "Counterpunch guys?" "Opportunistic Gang?" ....and perhaps there is an identity some want to strive for via trade?

There are a few here who would call them the Charmin Crew

I think Sweeney will add a someone who can win face offs. That’s probably the teams biggest weakness. Maybe pageau or hertl.
Hertl might be cheap because his contract is too long and he has ntc. Pageau doesn’t have any offence left in his game but he still killing penalties and winning faceoffs. I’d love to discuss potential centres that the bruins might be interested in. With no firsts I doubt they can add an elite centre. But they might be able to add a depth piece that is dominant on the dot.

Defence and goaltending is their identity. Best in the league goaltending and probably the second best defence. I like the Vegas defence a little bit more.

I have watched a few Flames games this year, and I have come around to the idea of the Bruins trying to acquire Elias Lindholm. If he does not want to extend in Calgary, or Calgary isn't interested, he might be had for less than a first, or wait till the summer and get him for nothing. With Zacha's emergence, I don't think a true #1C is necessary now, and Lindholm is a good 2C who is smart, defensively responsible, and has some offensive chops and is decent at the dot. Something to think about anyway, unless we think Poitras takes the next step as the season progresses.

Yeah as Poitras gets grinded down by the NHL schedule pace, the need at C in the bottom 6 is definitely there. Poitras to the wing all day please. His time will definitely come.

Lohrei needs more coaching in the AHL. But my goodness the tool set is there. He's a future #2 to my eyes.

The tough enough to aggravate the analytic and anti fighting crowd and win in the playoffs era. Doesn't have a ring to it but it would make me happy

I don't even need "fighters" - Getting a guy who can fight, play and be physical may be tough.

I'll take a guy with some size who can provide physicality where it's much needed (foward) - Right now this team has one physical player, and it's McAvoy.

This team as it currently sits will be bounced in the first round.

I like lindholm. I don’t know what a package for him would look like though. I think he is a #1 centre. If he is your #2 centre your team is likely very good up the middle. I think a comparable trade would be the Bo Horvat trade. Can the bruins afford him? My fear is they don’t have first round draft picks which will be a problem if they want a true #1 centre.

Bruins as constructed are BIG with the height, weight, and players that are tough to play against. Not sure what folk are seeking here other than to complain.

Forwards - Beecher, Lauko, Marchand, Coyle, JVR, Zacha, Frederic, Geekie

D - McAvoy, Lindholm, Forbort, Carlo

Boston ranked 4th weight and 8 height. They are big

They're not physical players. Tall? Sure, some of them.

Also, when you play a heavy forecheck game this Bruins team is 100% an easy team to play against, especially when their forward group isn't remotely physical and their defence outside of McAvoy is much the same.

As I have mentioned several times the only strong teams in the East who play with a physical edge are Florida and TB, unfortunately they are also in the Atlantic. Toronto with their very shaky D and goaltending beat TB in the playoffs last year. Florida is the team that concerns me the most. Everyone is putting way too much stock in last nights game, TB was very highly motivated, the Bruins just couldn't match their intensity, yet they still should have won, and yah, the officials might as well have worn Lightning uniforms.

The players I listed are physical and play with a heavy forecheck. Not sure how you don't see that today. They're fantastic. Better than last year.

I'd say the Rangers are a pretty physical team, too. The Bruins need size and physicality throughout their line up. Their most physical foward is likely not suiting up for the remainder of the season, which leaves you with Frederic who... well... doesn't seem to want to play that game anymore.

I don't really agree.

Geekie and Zacha are physical???? I can't believe I am about to say this but Danton Heinen has been more physical than them. Also they need guys who will bring intensity and have the ability to change momentum, be that with a big hit or a fight or just being an overall pain to play against and starting scrums and dragging the team into the game.

Does the Bruins record over the past 100 games reflect this or are the other 31 coaches in the league just dumb, letting their players have a go at it without telling them to forecheck?

I know it's early to be talking College Free Agents but Quinnipiac's Collin Graf (Lincoln, MA) continues to produce at an extremely impressive rate. He was injured to start the season but has put up two points per game since his return.

He was a very scrawny kid at 18 and 19...but he has filled out to a respectable 6' 180lbs. He scores clutch goals and is a true EV and PP producer. You have to think Sweeney and co have their eyes on him. Local kid too. He was at NAS development camp this summer.

Yes they are hard on the forecheck and play with speed pace. Which is needed today. They are top 5 in the league for size and weight so yes they have a Grzy but they have complimentary players that use their size/reach effectively.

Does it ever get tiring constantly blaming the refs?

Anytime the Bruins lose somehow the refs account for a goal or two. And the the other team is always celebrating like they just won the cup if they beat the bruins apparently. And the Bruins schedule matters when they've played too many games in a short period. But it doesn't matter if the other team is playing a rough stretch of the schedule. Any player who celebrates a goal scored against the Bruins is showboating and needs to get got.
