And most refs love the Panthers.
seriously that 5 minute kneeing major should have been 2 minutes, and that non called delay of game puck clearing should have made a very long 5-3 for Edmonton ....both favourable calls for the Panthers ..and that last one where Leone caught Barkov wasn't called on the play ...just afterwards ..sure it was a penalty but if you aren't calling it real time then let it go

Will always wonder how things would have shaken out if Marchand elevated the puck another inch or two on his breakaway to end game 5 last year.

Would the panthers have retooled? At that point they would have stumbled ass backwards into the playoff and lost in 5 games. Wonder if they would have changed some pieces around.

Good night Edmonton. Thrashed. I've generally been a big fan of Draisaitl but he's been terrible in this series so far. McDavid has been ok but is trying to do too much and overplaying the puck. Bouchard's defensive jitters from early in the season are back. Hyman has been negated. Nurse remains awful. Their PP isn't working. Long long way back from here. Too far, you'd have to think.

I hated the 2023 Cats way more so seeing them get destroyed was glorious. I don't hold anywhere near the same distaste for this year's version, I'll tip my cap to them for putting together a great team.

Edmonton is in real trouble here, need a McDrai explosion to make this a series.

Probably not.
No pressure down there.

Probably not.
No pressure down there.

They just made a huge move with Weegar and Huberdeau out.

If there was no pressure I doubt they’d look to shake things up like that after bowing out as the presidents trophy winners.

Can’t pretend they’d just ignore another 1st round loss.

They clearly showed if things weren’t working they would move pieces out rather than just running it back hoping for better results

The Big Smoke (unfortunately)
Give Florida credit. Especially BOB. They keep playing like they want the Cup.
Maurice said it in his post-game presser: his mandate was to get them to play playoff hockey, i.e., a style of play that can be successful in the playoffs. Said playoffs are different. Said they’ve been working towards it for 204 games. You listening Monty, Donny et al?

I don't think so. Monty's no fool and I think he had the Bruins doing the best they could to negate the Panthers' strengths. Boston at least made them break a sweat, more so than Tampa, probably for longer than the Rangers even though NY had some moments when they were more completely on top. Oilers aren't looking good. One good game when they couldn't cash in, now paying for it already and the Cats are dominating.

So yeah I think the Bs did as well as anybody, but really it's best of a bad bunch. Realistically no-one has gotten close.
What's worse, is Boston will play them by Round 2.

Boston had a tougher stretch in G2\3 than Rangers did at any point in their series.
When you get outscored 10-0 over a two game four period stretch, your not recovering because your opponent has established dominance.

This series isn't over yet and I think its coming back tied 2-2 and will be anybodies series.

I don't agree with you on delay of game, as it appeared puck left stick over blue line and that's all that matters.

Just saw the Draisaitl hit on Barkov. The NHL channel guys are complaining saying that Drai should miss the same games that Barkov might miss. These guys are wildly inconsistent. A month ago, they were saying Bennet's hit was a playoff hockey play. I'm not whining about Bennet, I'm just saying, pick a lane and stay in it. Either all dirty plays are just playoff plays or call it like the regular season.

It's not that difficult.

That hit probably deserves a 1 game suspension but I doubt Drai will get more then a fine being the superstar that he is. Barkov missing games is about the only chance Edmonton has to make a series out of this.
