I'd be kind of ticked at Briere if I were Anaheim.

Both teams got excellent players. But now Gauthier is going to get dogged by press to explain. And don't get me wrong, it's out there and if he decided to force himself out of Philly..... well press attention goes with the territory.

Again though, if I were Anaheim I would have preferred Briere not be quuuuuiiiiiiittttteeee so candid.
Fun for us fans, though!!!!

It’s too much, but at least Nylander is damn good. This is the sort of contract that reeks of desperation, which is funny since Toronto isn’t desperate for stud forwards.

At the end of the day, I like this, for selfish reasons. Life is better when Toronto ignores the two things that win championships: defense and goaltending
Does anyone see someone in TO being moved in the next season and a half before JT's contract expires? It would be hard to move him but I could see a team taking him with even some of the salary retained, but the question is, would he even agree to being moved?

With every huge money deal they sign and make official, it just makes it harder and harder for them to move salary. Everybody knows they're struggling with the cap and desperate to shed it.

I just sit back and laugh. I think they'll just let it ride with the huge contracts and hope for a miracle once tavares is off their books

Off topic a bit, but I saw a piece the other day that Lindros refused to be drafted by Quebec after they met and the GM made a lewd comment about his mother in French, not knowing she was fluent. I wonder how much truth there is to that.
Knowing the stories around Bonnie Lindros, I tend to believe it. Helicopter parent with sharpened talons they say.

ESPN story from back in the day.

Lindros needs to get away from his parents

Comparing TOR with BOS. After this year. (keep in mind its super early)

TOR 8 roster spots to fill with 21 mill cap space
BOS 9 roster spots to fill with 25 mill cap space.

considering one of the spots for BOS is Swayman, that puts both teams cap situation around the same.

And after next year, TOR is pretty much clean except for Mathews, Nylander and Reilly. 53 mill in cap space. B's will have about 49 mill in cap space

Of course the big question for TOR is what to do with Marner.
I think they are going to let Tavares walk or offer him pennies. Or at least that's what they should do.

Well.....

Toronto has to fill out 3 forward spots, 5 D spots and a goalie not counting any extra bodies to the 20 skaters playing

Boston is much more well rounded and is looking for depth. Not an entire D core and goalie tandem

Not a black and white comparison in my opinion

They act as if the Flyers are a class act organization, Torts is the best draw there. Other than that totally irrelevant for years.

Refusing to play for certain organizations does seem to work out for these guys.

Peyton Manning wasn't Ryan Leaf, Lindros had a good career, Wheeler coming to us instead of Arizona. I'd be bitter too if I was Philly that your draft pick is starting to look better than anyone in the upcoming draft.

Hell you can say the NHL is hurting as a whole because McDavid is stuck in Edmonton.
