I don't know if that's fair. Perry has been liked wherever he's gone. How was Chicago supposed to see this coming.

No different than blaming Bruins management for the Lucic situation.
Shit happens but I don't think we can hang this on Chicago management.

Actually I heard a report (TSN 690) from the GM that it didn't involve any players or their families.

I thought it said didn’t involve family members but I musta misread it

"After an internal investigation, the Chicago Blackhawks have determined that Corey Perry has engaged in conduct that is unacceptable, and in violation both of the terms of his Standard Player’s Contract and the Blackhawks’ internal policies intended to promote professional and safe work environments."

This seems to be the key phrase from their press release.

I just can’t believe the organization is chastising the Twitter verse for speculating.

You either get out in front of it or you don’t. If you don’t, accept the consequences.

It’s embarrassingly out of touch PR work. It is ridiculous to act like stupid ass rumors are not completely inevitable in this situation.
Seems like the Hawks organization doesn't have a PR coach or consultant. They are terrible at dealing with crisis. The only positive is that there was not an "emotional moment" at today's presser.

I have no idea what they saw as the point of this press conference.

It just tells us that whatever actually happened is so bad that they’d rather let the rumors fly than disclose what actually happened imo.

Yea just like with 3 mins left Toronto player clipped with highstick and nothing ,no arm ,no whistle nothing. Then later once play stops its a huddle and 4 mins.
well it was a clear penalty so what's the beef? Just like the disallowed goal in the shootout. It was the correct call. Are we suggesting to NOT make the correct call just cuz you want play to continue? All instances the plays were reviewable, no precedent was set. There's no issue here

There is NO excuse for the Blackhawks to allow the social media sewer to go unanswered for close to 36 hours.

Danny Wirtz who now runs the team is only 46 and should have been aware that every hour of silence just fed the sewer.
Imagine being a New England Revolution fan. When they fired Bruce Arena for "conduct". We didn't hear for WEEKS. Months actually. In fact we still don't know what happened.

And nobody around here cares that much about soccer

The Hawks given everything that organization has turned a blind eye too should read the room. Craziness

@Mione134

Arena was suspended by the league, not the Krafts, and then he resigned. The Revs
never recovered.

I am going to assume no NHL team will claim Perry and then Marty Walsh has 60 days to file a grievance.

I feel sorry for the Islanders. They lack the firpower, and probably the budget, to compete. They are like watching a re-run of a bad tv show that you still like.

Budget? Jon Ledecky and Scott Malkin are hardly poor. The Isles spend to the cap, every year. I see no evidence that they're disadvantaged in any way. The quality of their roster, such as it is, is on Lou and the rest of their management, same as any other team.

And their recent record is decent. It's only 2 years since they made back-to-back conference finals. They've slipped a little since then, but right now they're only a point away from a playoff spot. So I'd say they're competing just fine. Like a lot of teams they're looking for that bit extra that will get them over the hump, and trying to do it without a full rebuild. They've as much chance of achieving that as most others.

Absolutely.

The reason people are cynical about Chicago is that the rot comes from the top, even if the top is deceased. Here's a few gems from Rocky Wirtz's FIRST public season ticket holder meeting post the Kyle Beach scandal.

"I think the report speaks for itself. The people who were involved are no longer here. We're not looking back on 2010, we're looking forward. And we're not going to talk about 2010,"

"We're moving forward, that is my answer. Now, what's your next question?"

Rocky's son: "I can pick up to what we are doing today"..... Rocky cuts him off: "no, that's none of your business"

"What we're going to do today is our business, I don't think it's any of your business," "Because I don't think it's any of your business. You don't work for the company."

"If someone in the company asks that question, we'll answer it," "And I think you should get on to the next subject. We're not going to talk about Kyle Beach, we're not going to talk about anything that happened. Now we're moving on, what more do I have to say? Do you want to keep asking the same question, and hear the same answer?"

To which that apologist Gary Bettman then tried to sweep under the carpet by saying something to the effect of Rocky has been under a lot of stress.

I'd be pretty comfortable guessing that whatever Corey Perry did was on him and nothing to do with Chicago. Still, doesn't mean I don't think that organization truly smells like shit for the Beach thing and will for a long long time.

Budget...There is a reason there are only one or two stars on the roster: Barzal and Nelson/Dobson on a good day. You can say it's Lou and you would be right in the end, but there is a reason they don't sign free agents except their own, and rarely make big trades...They do spend to the cap. I checked, I will give you that...

And should be why every other team should steer clear.
