I can't imagine any team wanting to take Laine and his contract on, even with some cap help from CBJ.

Dude hasn't played 60 or more games in a season since 2019-20. He's dead-last in +/- this season for Columbus. A .5 PPG player so far this year. Plays soft as charmin (4 hits in 17 games). Isn't exactly much of hustle-oriented player. Has an injury history.

I get that he's only 25 with good size and is a hell of a shooter, but given the cap situation of nearly every team it's hard to imagine someone taking on that much salary for a player who can't seem to stay healthy. Unless they can find a sucker, Columbus is in a situation where they might as well stick with Laine and keep their fingers crossed he can stay healthy and play better than he has.

Not to mention, he was a ghost in the playoffs when he was in WInnipeg.

12 rounds

Is there a single hockey fan who finds a 12-round shootout entertaining?

Make a new sheet of ice, play 10 minutes of 3-on-3, if no one scores just call it a tie.
