Fedotov was always a longshot to make the team anyway...especially w/the emergence of Maccelli, Doan and Guenther...there aren't that many top winger spots available. He's certainly not cut out for the 4th line, so unlikely he ever makes it over.I think Fedotov made a poor choice to stay in the KHL for so much longer.
I think Duda made a poor choice to leave the KHL so early.
My hopes for them playing for the Coyotes is diminished - especially for Fedotov.
I was armchair GMing for 2 years down the road...Man, But seems like the perfect winger for Cooley. Put whoever emerges out of Guenther, Doan, and Mattika on the other side. Could be special.
Gotta figure that Bill wants Guenther to step up his play-making and power forward attributes. If he was ok with Guenther just being a sniper, he'd be with the big club.
He is playing. Problem is that he was traded to SKA St Petersburg in the offseason and they're a very, very bad team for developing prospects to play for. This is the same team that gave Michkov like 2m of ice time a game at best with Michkov in his draft year. And that's pretty much the story of Fedotov. His last game was on the 25th and he got 1:50 of ice time. About 1.5 shifts throughout the game. He's been benched pretty consistently since the middle of September. And while I don't think his defensive game is amazing he deserves more of a chance than that, but they aren't sending him down to the VHL either. What's wrong with Fedotov? He doesn't play anywhere, isn't listed as injured... Is he in Russian captivity??
I don't like Russian prospects. But our 4 boys seem to be talented good players and I like their development and hope they can help us moving forward at some point. Unfortunately, things are stalling a bit with Fedotov and Duda (he can't help it), but the development with But and Simashev is all the more pleasing.

Unfortunately considering he signed for another 4 years in the KHL this offseason it's pretty unlikely that he comes over at any point in time, I wouldn't say his development has stalled over the past few years but it definitely looks like it's about to. I mean who knows really, but where he is right now is that he's competing with a bunch of guys who bring more to the table than being a speedy offense first winger and have shown a lot more progress than him.
I am a fan of him, but it doesn't look promising.
I was wondering if you had a strong command of the Russian language by now. That’s called a piss missile.
Fedotov was pretty good in his loaner role as a 19yo, I don't think he played badly. Plus minus isn't an indicator of individual prowess. He does need to work on his defense, sure, but he'd probably do something with 10m of icetime a game even. He should definitely be in the VHL though, building confidence and working on what he needs to progress to the KHL.It’s not like Fedotov hasn’t had chances.
Last year he played for Larionov, who is notoriously awesome at developing youngsters. Fedotov just wasnt very good.
So he was loaned to Neftekhimik where he performed better but was a team worst -12.
He was essentially a throw-in when SKA obtained his older brother (Maxim Fedotov) this offseason.
Imo, he’s not good enough to be a SKA regular at the moment. He should be developing in the VHL, getting loads of ice time.
Sadly SKA’s decisions dont make sense most of the time. Lol
Three in the third and the GWG in OT.
Props to his head coach...seems like last year there were lots of comments about his coach limiting ice time unless he learned to played a two way game. I'm reminded a bit of Hanzal and Brent Sutter @ Red Deer.....here's hoping Geekie can be as important to this franchise as Hanzal was albeit sacrificing some defense for offense.Statement game during a statement season by a player who is beginning to show why people had him as high as #5 his draft year
