Updated, Matikka is having one heck of a year for a dude playing 3rd line minutes...albeit on a stacked DU team, but still, really good production

I would say the current standout seasons for prospects is as follows

1 - Daniil But
2 - Conor Geekie
3 - Maverick Lamoureux
4 - Miko Matikka
5 - Justin Kipkie

honorable mention: Szuber, Moroz, Guenther, Doan, Simashev, Langlois, Lipkin, Lutz

Good to see so many prospects having such good starts to the season

I think Castagna deserves a mention too. He went from prep school to NCAA and he's producing right out of the gate.

Found a site with some archived DU games. Watched DU vs NoDak last night. Matikka looked dangerous on every shift. Not a great defender and needs skating help but man does he have a shot.

Zeev Buium looked good too.
I agree...I was trying to find some Zeev Buium coverage and saw the links that guy provided and watched the game between DU & Mich Tech and also the No Dakota game and yes, Miko looked good.

I like Zeev quite a bit, but don't know since he's sub 6' whether BA's group will have him as someone to look at since he's in the range of where we should be drafting.

Zeev is listed at 6’2 on the DU site. He’s not that tall. But his brothers are like 6’3 and 6’2 so I’m not surprised he’s grown from his listed 5’11 at the NTDP. Based on him standing next to teammates while celebrating goals, I think he’s at least 6ft and maybe 6’1.

Well, that's even better...it's too bad he shoots left.

Yeah that’s definitely a factor. With Moser, Simashev and Duda on the left already. But maybe that’s the good problem to have. RD would be better though.
We've got all LD: Moser, Simashev, Szuber, Duda, Kipkie, Langlois, Goldsmith, Morden
We've got RD: Soderstrom, Lamoureux

So, yeah, I'd expect us to put a little emphasis on RD position going into the draft.

Zeev has been playing the right side 5v5 from what I saw. But that’s because just Behrens and his brother are both LD and those are his usual partners I think.

Though I agree. Too bad the top RD may be out of range. Perhaps Parekh or Jiricek maybe.

Exactly...he's just playing right because the entire DU defense is LH so someone has to the play the right side

Nice clip on MavLam. He put on 15 pounds over the summer.:DD

And one of Geekie as well.

These two clips get me all pumped about the future. Then I remember Simashev and But also. And Guenther and Doan. And we get another big pick this year.

Well, I'm hoping that Catton drops to our spot, otherwise, we pick a Dman and then we get Basha in the 2nd round...really like that kid. Every time I watch Lindstrom, I keep thinking wow, that Basha kid is pretty good.

Totally agree about Basha. I don’t think there’s very much at all separating Basha, Ryder and Iginla. Basha reminds me a bit of Maccelli. Or a lesser Benson. Iginla is like Matikka if Matikka could skate like the wind. Ryder is just unreal puck skills and skating. The kids would say he’s filthy.

if we are picking in the top 10 we are walking out of the draft with a fantastic prospect.
Agree.

Nobody is allowed to use this list against me because I’ve put next to no thought into it. In fact, if I wasn’t too lazy, I’d just alphabetize it so nobody could hold me to it. But there are 15 names I think I’d be really pumped to pick right now.

  1. Celebrini
  2. Eiserman
  3. Levshunov
  4. Demidov
  5. Silayev
  6. Catton
  7. Yakemchuk
  8. Lindstrom
  9. Dickinson
  10. Helenius
  11. Buium
  12. Jiricek
  13. Parekh
  14. Chernyshov
  15. Iginla

Of course there are many more I like and I there will be a ton of changes. And we haven’t even seen the WJCs let alone the playoffs.

Bill Armstrong: "With the 12th pick of the 2024 entry draft, the Coyotes are proud to select, from MHK Dynamo, Arsen Taimazov."

I actually really like this player and have thought about us taking him in the 2nd round. Which many would view as a reach. I think a more likely huge reach for us at 12th would be Dean Letourneau.

Though if we wanted to repeat MHL teammates with our 1st two picks, then Chernyshov at 12th and Taimazov at 44th would do it.
