According to the Leafs rivals, Easton Cowan is the reason Team Canada has been faltering.

I knew these small market Canadian fanbases were jealous of the Leafs, I just didn't realise how up in their feelings this team was.

Leading goal and point getter, not even the most penalties taken and he's getting all the flack.

Let's not discuss how the team around him is trash.

Team was flawed from the moment selection camp was announced.
Team management and coaching staff are a joke.

His penalty though was the worst possible timing and completely unnecessary. They had the momentum to tie the game there.

Still a chance to redeem himself and they can still win. They have to stop taking all the bad penalties. It was crazy

The Mynio penalty was worse. But I agree that Cowan didn't have a good game.

Surprised, I am not. He also didn't help his cause either. He has been off though

When we win the medal, this is going to taste so good, the I told you so

The keyword here is THEY. It’s not like Cowan is the odd one out, but HF folks be acting like it. Pretending the team around him isn’t just as bad if not worse.

You’re not wrong. But that particular penalty he took was a back breaker as they were looking good and probably would have tied it 2-2. Did you watch the game ?

I think it was 7 mins left in the game and they had momentum. Of all the penalties taken that one stood out to me most as the worst timing and most unnecessary.
I’m really excited to have Cowan as a prospect but that was a bad, undisciplined penalty.

The whole Cdn team is playing the classic Hockey Canada entitled-bully game that has been their mantra for years. Listening to the coach push it all on the players when they’ve fostered the attitude is typical.

The world has caught up and these teams need to play like they are lucky to be in it, not like rock stars doing a cameo in their high school gym.

Americans are no angels. The Canadians played well 5 on 5
Cowan is an agitator it might make guys move a little quicker when he forechecks
That's on his linemates to pressure loose pucks or errant passes

You have no way of knowing that. Complete hyperbole.

Regardless, they had momentum when they tied it 1-1, then Mynio takes a penalty 38 seconds later and it's immediately 2-1.

Then another penalty by Canada, followed by Cowan 1 minute later. Not sure where this momentum you speak of was before Cowans penalty.

Very Kadri of him.

Have watched next to zero amount of the tournament.

This tournament will be over, and Cowan will go back to the Knights and carry-on.

The US Canada game was electric. Dave Cameron building Team Canada like the Ottawa Senators he used to coach. Lots of speed no ability to score whatsoever.

Canada’s selections are among the worst I’ve ever seen. Even worse than last years team.

Team was flawed from the moment selection camp was announced.
Team management and coaching staff are a joke.

How Matt Wood & Michael Hage are not on this team is insane..

Yep, and it didn’t take long for them to take the bait.

They’re hating on Cowan because TSN and Sportsnet only talk about the Leafs. :D

You couldn’t even make this up.

It was a bad penalty for Cowan to take, no question about that.... and having said that, he has three points. Ritchie has two. No other Canadian forward has more than one. These guys really need to step up.

The Leaf hate got tiring a while ago. Once you understand the hate is not based in any particular logic, and just a result of a lot of times great insecurity (why doesn't any one like my team over those dumb Leafs), you get it.

Cowan needs to just understand there was no result of this tournament where he escapes this kind of talk because haters already decided he is bad and will use anything to justify that stance. Hopefully some leadership in the org helps him out. He will get it when he is older and/or moves on to another market.

It's part of being a Leafs prospect. I mean Kadri was booed when he was being drafted. Who booes a kid when he's being drafted?

Cowan needs to control on what he can control. His on nice performance.

Yes, someone should be getting Naz to give him a ring. Even a 10 minute chat I bet helps. He went through it, was a loved Leaf, won a cup and made himself insanely wealthy. Stay with it.
