His reaction to the loss at the Memorial Cup, 15 seconds in.

At 3:22 some more interesting stuff.

"The size he's put on..."

My biggest question is if he has the strength/size to hold up to the grind

I think he has enough elsewhere to do well in terms of two way play, offensive ability, and skating

I don't see his size as an issue.

He was 5'11", 185 lb.

If he's added to that 185 lb. say even 10 pounds, 5'11" 195 lb. is a solid weight for his height.

His trainer seems to think he is NHL ready and has made great strides over the summer. Kids often sprout in that 18 to 20 year age. He wants it. I think he starts the year and has 9 games to show off.

I can see him ending up similar to Nylanders size around 6’ 200 lbs. Nylander was about the same size when we drafted him and also trained extremely hard to get where he is.

Can we get him his like 4 games in, fake an injury and throw him on an AHL conditioning stint, give him 5 more NHL games, send him to the WJC, then decide?
I mean I guess, feel like he would be better off actually playing though even if it's in junior over BSing an injury to get him a week or two in the minors.

Shane was granted an exemption from the AHL. They made a special exemption for him

So what you are saying is there is precedent set.

Hard to argue against it for Player X when you just did it for Player Y.

Not many D+2 players make a significant impact in the NHL. Think its very likely hes back in the OHL for a final year.

Wasn't it just a conditioning stint? An option available for any player that meets the conditioning stint criteria?
I don't remember an exception being granted

If a player turns 20 by Dec 31st they are eligible to go to the AHL that year even if they are 19. Wright turned 20 on Jan 05. So he barely missed the cut off, so they applied for an exemption. Additionally AHL and CHL agreed he has nothing left to prove in CHL.

Sorry! My mistake!
I was thinking of 2 years ago when he was down in the AHL on a conditioning stint.

Last year was the exception!
