With the WJC starting soon again, may as well get a thread started.
Here's who we know are locks for their teams

Topi Niemela(Finland)
Roni Hirvonen(Finland)
Matthew Knies(USA)

Guys who have a chance
Ty Voit(USA) unlikely but with rumors that not all the USA players who were there originally not coming, it opens up a slight chance. There is a higher chance he plays in the December tournament.

Ryan Tverberg(Canada) decent chance he makes it. With him being the 11th hour cut originally, and some original Canadian players not coming, he might be on this team.

Niemela and Hirvonen in action in about 5 mins

A successful tournament at this point is all 3 prospects coming out healthy and maybe able to shake the rust off sooner for the following season of development.

I expect a lot of these games to be less polished until towards the end of the tournament as the rust comes off. Could be wrong though lol.

Not bad in 1 period he had more assists then in the 2 games in the cancelled tournament. Granted it is Latvia.

Niemela was terrific in the 1st. Moved the puck well and didn't make a bad pass at all. Couple times he let his forward get by him on the outside a bit easy, all though that seemed to be by design, but great period.
Hirvonen was good too. On the rush was good and great playmaking. He stole the puck to start the 2nd goal

Zetterberg was listed at 6'0 but swear he was like 5'10

Should i be as a HIFK fan worried of that Maple-Leafs will change their mind
to allow Hirvonen's playing in HIFK for this coming season and put him instead to Toronto Marlies?

Knies may not have a big year in college if he plays with cooley
So far and i know its early but cooley seems to be a puck hog
Knies open twice and cooley hangs onto the puck

Seems like the same type of dman.

Niemela is better defensively and is a better skater. They're both very smart puck movers and both have hard accurate wrist shots. My bet is that Niemela is more likely to hit his potential because of his skating.

Having these 2 and Liljegren coming up on cheap contracts is great. Just wish we had a young Muzzin type coming up the pipe as well.
