I hate to be a downer but I feel like I wasted so much time watching this tournament for 20+ years when it really has no impact at all on prospect evaluation or development. It just blows my mind how much value is placed on these games when it comes to player rankings, how is one short tournament more important than an entire season of games in the CHL or NCAA?

This tournament used to be for national bragging rights and now it's for message-board and social media bragging rights (or trashing rival players who don't excel or make teams). I don't think anyone believes that Clarke's development is being hindered by not making this tournament, they just wanted to hype him up, and now they have to face it from Joe Ducks fan that he didn't make it.
Not all duck fans are like that, I’m disappointed Clarke didnt get chosen, and I feel like Canada really messed up not bringing him
...then just show them that clip of Zellweger getting completed clowned on a Czech goal.
We’ll to be fair, Clarke prob woulda gotten clowned 3x by now :sarcasm:

We'll never know though will we? Trolling other team boards ain't cool.

Another goal for Chromiakwith a couple minutes left.

So we got Grans with 2 assists, Chromiak with 2 goals, Helenius with 2 goals

Faber had the second-most time on ice for Team USA (behind Jake Sanderson). He was on the ice for Chromiak's first goal, but not the second. Always a good sign when the coach sends a defenseman over the boards in the final minute of a one-goal game, and lo and behold, Faber was out there at the very end.

I could watch Faber skate all day.

And I was joking a little bit when I said Chromiak was the obvious driver of the Wright line but he's honesty looked even better every time he's away from Shane.

Seriously kids stride and movement is absolutely poetic. I know Sanderson gets all the hype but Faber is the best skater on the US team maybe even amongst the forwards.

Wright didn't look very good today and his stock has been dropping all season.

I only mentioned the Ducks because I am talking on this board, but its not something that is exclusive to the Ducks fans or exclusive to this board.

There seems to be a need for many to run-down prospects to hype up their own. The ridiculous stuff we saw on the main boards last year with Holloway-Caufield. Like why can't we just say both had fantastic years in the Big Ten and were a big reason for UW winning the conference.

And the WJC discussions and game threads are largely littered with fans hyping up their own guys and/or trashing rivals. People just want to see what they want to see. It's tough to read through. I try and follow what our UM guys are doing since I don't care to watch the tournament anymore but everything is so polarized now.

Oh I agree… those prospect posters that go around every thread trying to pump up their guy or put down others get old real quick.

I enjoy the world juniors, it’s fun to watch the future play in the spot lights, but certain posters on hfboards really kill the main board threads. I’ve never really understood hating on 17-20 year olds just because where they land on draft day. I enjoy watching ducks And kings prospects succeed, it’s great for hockey in Southern California when both teams have strong rosters/futures
