Yes, this decision was made to keep these kids safe. Even though teams with high risk exposure were already isolating, even playing further games against teams with no high risk exposure was too dangerous for them.

Now that the tournament is cancelled, they can go back to their respective leagues. Some teams with high risk exposure are isolating, but they can play against the other teams with no high risk exposure. Much safer.

The WJC should have never been held in the first place. It was absolute bush league to cancel all of the other tournaments while leaving the WJC, and the COVID isolation policies enacted to run the WJC made the entire tournament unworkable.

You want to try to make things better? Then put this type of effort into banning things like fast food and smoking which ultimately kill way more people every single year. The problem people have is that those are government approved things that kill people yet covid is the one that we’re choosing to focus on. If some other country cared about it? Every single game is televised in Sweden. The intrest here is huge. Finland is the same. The Czech Republic almost broke attendance records in 2020.

I had the opportunity to attend in Ottawa in 2009 but the tickets were so insanely expensive that I opted out.

Again, it’s about money and how much Canadians are willing to pay, not to mention what I expect TSN can rake in and pass on to IIHF when it comes to prime time advertising.

You stand corrected. IIHF is in charge of the standards and protocols for the event. They represent all countries involved. It is their tournament.

The NHL just reduced the quarantine to 5 days, but subject to local health authority approval...assume this tourney would need same approvals..
