id just withdraw if those are the "rules" of this tournament. farcical. what happens in the knockout rounds when one player tests positive? just gonna postpone the game? how long we holding off on forfeiting or waiting for the all clear to play a game?
Seems unlikely that of they have positives, particularly both goalies, that they'd be able to play in the next couple days. Feels like it may be the precursor to dropping out of the tournament.
Yeah if they are true positives, they won't be able to play tomorrow against Sweden, either. The US would have to withdraw. I don't really see any realistic way around it. Too bad. My interest in the tournament drops dramatically if this happens.yeah with it being goalies. really the only chance is if they end up being false positives and those guys test negative enough times to be cleared
So does the USA get relegated if they can’t continue the tournament?
This is the equivalent of what we're seeing here in Canada. Shut down the economy for the 9th time 2 years into COVID because people have the cough. Great sacrifices over effectively a cold. Hopefully the USA goalies and players are feeling okay but if they're out of the tournament, that's absolutely terrible for the players.

Sounds like it was potentially two of the three goalies, which is obviously a problem. And it also sounds as of it wasn't an automatic forfeit, and there were discussions between the IIHF and Team USA about what to do before they both settled on a forfeit.2 and an automatic forfeit? Yeah, I'm done with this tournament.
Nah, I get what you're saying. I just think it's a bit of a joke for them to forfeit a game because of Covid. They should've expected this kind of stuff and had contingencies in place. Like extra roster, more time in the schedule, etc. Or do a bubble? Idk, I didnt follow the build up to it.Sounds like it was potentially two of the three goalies, which is obviously a problem. I mean it all does feel stupid, but if they really were down to one healthy goalie it becomes less crazy, to me anyway.

There should be some kind of provision for usa if they need a goalie to get someone thats playing locally that's from the us or had duall citizenship
Rangers better be ready to make their offer when he takes the NCAA route.Looked like Duthie, O’Neill and McKenzie were surprised no one from the Sabres org congratulated Owen Power on his hattrick. Time for another billboard?
