HE was excellent, which makes that crucial ball called six inches off the plate late in a razor thin game a strike all the more confusing. And it was not just a small miss, it was way off the plate.

These umps are ridiculous

Umps are normally way off base but I honestly don't see much wrong here. I'd need to get clarification on what Francona was arguing but HBP is a reviewable play. If he still has his challenge then challenge, if he doesn't then the umps aren't allowed to use a crew review until the 8th. They got together and discussed it and felt it wasn't a HBP which appears to be the correct call. If that was indeed the discussion the umpire gave him a lot of rope on a pretty black and white decision. Either sit down and we can continue the game or you're I'll make you sit down somewhere else.

As for the 2nd one I don't believe I've ever seen a pitcher get a handful of warmup pitches after a 5 minute delay because of a ruling/arguing. I'm not sure if the umpires have the discretion to allow it. Looks like Tepera got some there at the end so I guess so unless he went rogue after the ump was distracted tossing his manager. Tossing Nevin was a bit much in that spot and a lot likely could have been done to calm the situation down rather than escalate but he was likely still hot after whatever the hell Francona decided to get upset about for no reason.

Bo is just unreal right now. Best player in the game right now. This series is huge. I’ll be satisfied with 3 out of 5. I recently mentioned that berrios looks like the #4 guy in the rotation but than I read that the jays record with him pitching is very good. In a 3 game series he might be the odd one out though.

Berrios will get a start in a 3 game series. If I was managing I'd do this:

Manoah Game 1 no questions
Win game 1 go with Berrios in Game 2
Lose game 1 go with Gausman Game 2
Game 3 is whoever didn't start Game 2

Stripling is in the bullpen for all 3 games in case they need a bridge from a starter to the backend.

You would use Gausman anyways in game 2 because he's your 2nd best pitcher. Don't overcomplicate stuff, you trot out your best pitchers period. Lead with Manoah-Gausman, don't take your foot off the gas.

Sure Berrios game 2 means you've got Gausman for game 3 but that also means you've likely lost game 2 and given momentum back to the other team.
