WJC: 2022 Team Slovakia roster talk

So from the Hokejportal podcast with Fenes, it looks like Lasak will end up at the tournament and in a bottom 6 role. He also mentioned that Ciernik, because he believes he is a top 6 player, would not fit in this team right now. I don’t agree with that. He also mentions Demek alongside Lasak and Petrovsky as complimentary players. Yet to anyone who has seen Demek, he should be the number 1 centre here. Overall, I am not concerned yet

... then you cant be a coach of our junior team. Because you dont understand, that there should be 2 attacking formations, 1 all-around formation and one defensive formation. With players with special abilities, that can only national coach see.

Lašák is an offensive player. There is only one defensive player and thats Stetka. Maybe Krajc.

He was always in shadows of Mesar. But he has potential. He plays for HC Slovan senior team, so that means, he has skills. Next year he will be nominated.

Btw. his teams log (Number of teams) for this season is impressive.

Ciernik is not going to be there as he was not nominated but yes i agree. 4 solid lines, on offense and 2 excellent d pairings. Need to avoid Canada in QF matchup, which will require us beating one of the big dogs in our group

According to federation they are bringing 28 guys. I believe the roster deceleration is more so to figure out who will be in the bubble, it doesn’t limit the amount of guys a team can bring before the tournament actually begins. Not totally sure though

Owen sound cancelled their game because of potential Covid exposure. Could mean no Petrovsky for WJC. Also, apparently Knazko is injured. Very bad news for this team if these two can’t go.

Let’s hope. Petrovsky would be a major loss too. Potentially losing an almost PPG OHLer and penalty killer. Hoping that he can still go into the bubble
