WJC: 2022 Team Slovakia roster talk

It's so weird.. I look here and Slaf is clearly on the wing. However, every scouting report has him as a Centre. I'm pretty sure the scouts are a bit confused.

On a personal note.. I've always cracked up at Slovakian. My Czech is a bit below average and when I hear Slovakian it is so close to Czech but I confuse easily. When I read Slovak tweets like above I recognize most of the words but absolutely cannot figure it out.haha

I think it's like when North American's listen to someone with a thick Scottish accent or vice versa of course.

Done babbling... get to the quarters and upset! Curious if Jiricek or Nemec go first in June!

I’ve only seen TSN list him as a C now, I think most have him now as a LW. Button has been calling him a C since the WJC even though he was clearly playing on the wing. He could potentially be converted to C in the way Demek was, but that’s up to the team who selects him.
Should be a fun WJC, maybe we meet in the semis!

Euro camp invites to be released this week? I am guessing the NA players will join once the initial round of cuts are made and the team comes over. I think most of the players in NA are locks or close to (Demek, Chromiak, Knazko, Becar, Kmec, Petrovsky, Latkoczy, Stacha).

Knazko - Kmec
Petrovicky - Becar
Strbak

Slafkovsky - Myklukha - Chromiak
Mesar - Dvorsky - Faith
Kaslik - Demek - Jedlicka
Krajc - Petrovsky - Sykora
Kolenic

The first 3 lines could be really good. Myklukha 1C because he has good chemistry with Chromiak and Dvorsky 2C because he has good chemistry with Mesar. The third line with good skaters Kaslik and Jedlicka and the powerforward Demek. This way I would really like it, I wonder how it will be.

Viktor Micik (2002)? I don't know, I haven't seen him yet. The boy fired like a rocket, but it's still only 2 matches and so far he has played only third-class leagues. There should be a European nomination next week, I don't know if he will have more matches by then, so probably not.

This is how I imagine it too. I think Krajc might be injured, but if he’s not I’d say he will probably be in that spot. I think that 12th forward spot is the most wide open. Perhaps a good camp from Repcik, or Michalik wins the spot. Having Fenes, I know his line choices should be pretty good. That third line could be deadly. 2 ppg players in CHL and 1 close to ppg player in Slovak league, never before have we had this kind of depth up front.

A few players who I will be interested to see, one is Becar. I wonder how much he has improved since last season. He was a pleasant surprise, if he can give improved performance, it would help a lot.

Honestly wouldn’t be totally surprised if Demek earned role as first line centre on this team. He’s been unbelievable in the WHL this year. I could imagine something like Slafkovsky - Demek - Kaslik for the first line, a heavy first line. Second line more skilled, Chromiak - Myklukha - Mesar. Jedlicka and Faith, with the WJC experience can play with Dvorsky.

As Bob McKenzie reported on TSN, the 25 man camp list will have to be submitted by Dec.15, and all players will than have to go into quarantine for 48 hours. So I wonder how this camp will work? Are NA players going to go camp in Europe? Or perhaps these guys are such guarantees that they will automatically be part of the 25.

Stumpel is a C, Ciernik a W so its not a same but yeah, he shouldnt be there. Im actually surprised they give Richard Nemec and Stetka a chance, they always been ingnored in our national teams.

Stumpel won’t make the team regardless, however Ciernik could have had a good camp and push out one of the older wingers. Stetka and Nemec were not very good at the Norwegian tournament but there isn’t much better options. I suppose Kolenic

What’s the record for most u18 players on a team at the WJC I wonder. I have to think this team could break it. Nemec, Slaf, Mesar, Dvorsky, Strbak, Petrovsky, Sykora, Kmec, and potentially Elias.
