yep pretty much that. Määttä could center 3rd line and move Mäenpää to wing also dropping Järventie out of lineup aswell. and Heimosalmi Puutio could be 3rd pairing but thats well see

Good team, 3 potential scoring lines and a very gritty 4th line. Pennanen has got lot of heat by not selecting Blomqvist, reminds me of case-Ahokas/Luukkonen in 2019. Luukkonen wasn't great in 2018 but Ahokas kept him as a starting goalie, all the fans "knew" it better and kept moaning how Ahokas don't know to coach or build a team. And how did that turn out? Keep calm and trust Pennanen, he's the coach and he carries the resposibility.

I wonder why Simontaival didn't play in either game?

Finland-Canada final would be awesome and I don't expect Canada to not reach final this time. So in my mind it's better not to face Canada before the finals in the playoffs. After seeing Finland's final roster and Pennanen as the head coach, I think it's possible to get that final match up. USA and Sweden will be big problems as usual though.

Really like this Finnish roster... they should be a fun team to watch in the WJC. I expect them to make some serious noise.

I think that Canada-Finland game on August 15th to round out the group stage is going to be a good measuring stick contest for both teams.

Better question is why would he be on the team over Kemell, Lambert or Simontaival?

Väisänen is our best defensive winger and PKer, need guys like that too.

It seems I'm not the only one who thought R. Määttä should've made the team.



Määttä was better than Heimosalmi on Ässät, but still didn't make the team.

I would've picked Määttä instead of Rajaniemi/Nurmi/Jurmo and Blomqvist instead of Lampinen, but other than OK with selections for the team.
