Not really a huge fan of the team TSN had as locks and front runners to be honest. (On the preview show)

Agreed. Bob is usually plugged in to Hockey Canada's thinking in regards to this team, so it concerns me a bit. I can't fathom what Hunt and Seeley have done to be in "front" of Clarke for this roster. Same with Sourdif over many others.

I know the team isn't always filled with the best offensive players, but Clarke is a game breaker and should be a lock on any team in this tournament. I also personally don't see what Sourdif brings, other than being 19, that other players with higher-end offensive skill don't also bring.

Quite baffled by Sourdif being a lock, seems it is his history with Hockey Canada and exeprience at U18 level - this combined with being 19 must be it.

TSN says that the camp invites will come out tomorrow, listed these players as frontrunners and locks. McKenzie specifically cited that each of the forwards listed is a lock rather than just a frontrunner. Power and Guhle were cited specifically as locks, which we all knew anyway.

Johnson Greig Guenther
Neighbour McTavish Sourdif
Perfetti Wright

Guhle Sebrango
Hunt Seeley
Power Zellwegger

Brochu Cossa Garand

They also said that Byfield, Drysdale, Sillinger, and Jarvis are not expected. Can't say that I love what I'm seeing here even if most of the names make sense. At the very least you'd expect Clarke on defence and another right handed defenceman.

Though I think there are better options I wouldn't riot if Sourdif makes the team. He's a smart, versatile player who's producing this year. Seems crazy to consider him a lock however. Wright I understand based on how close he was to making the team last year but he is not the same player this year. Unless he really impresses in camp I think it would be a mistake to take him.

That defense seems crazy imo. I had Guhle, Sebrango, Hunt and Power making the team but that is literally 6 left-handed defenseman. I know Hunt can play the right side and I'm sure a few others but how can you justify leaving off the top scoring OHL defender who also happens to be a natural RHD? Seems nuts.

Pronman says an older roster is expected, with not much from the upcoming draft. I'd assume Wright is the only draft eligible then, he has a bigger background with Hockey Canada than Savoie.

At least it will eventually solve the problem of a right handed surplus we have at senior level

You're probably right, but I can't stand that mentality from HC. Savoie has been objectively better than Wright this year. He's tied for the most points in the CHL.

I don't mind Sourdif being in consideration at all, don't see why he would be a lock. I don't see why Wright would be a lock at this point either, since games are decided on play rather than pedigree. I may be way off but I also don't see why Ronan Seeley should be a frontrunner at the moment. Canada sometimes pulls out a random player who is a surprise to everyone. Sometimes you are happy and get Aidan Dudas, sometimes you get Markus Phillips.

Sounds like there are a few Kevin Prendergast disciples back in Hockey Canada offices.

Ya Hockey Canada seems to not like the Savoie brothers imo for whatever reason.

I have seen Seeley a bit this year and I have been quite impressed with his play. Personally I'd be comfortable with him on the team or not on the team. I view him as a bubble player imo.

I didn't know about the preview show being on today I thought it would be on tomorrow oh well. Why is Sourdif a lock if he had a good camp I'd grudgingly be ok with him on the team but a lock prior to camp what? Overall Mckenzies list just reinforces the fact that being 19 years old and being from the CHL is what gets you on the team unless for very special circumstances. I wonder if the Savoies will even be named to camp.
