Glad to hear about Johnson I was worried he was going to miss it. He's one of the players I'm most interested in watching. Also just out of curiosity what do you think Team Canada too would look like
Roy Lapirre Evangelista
Savoie Savoie Dean
Othman Bolduc L'Heraux
Tverberg Finley Dufour
Fantilli
Hunt Clarke
Iorio Cuelemans
Benning Thompson

Lennox
Gaudreau
Pretty good team maybe not quite as good as the first team but I think they could contend for gold.
I'd still cut Finley.

I don't think he's the best goalie.
If you're basing it off stats, you can't compare. The WHL only plays within their conferences, and the quality of competition is very different.

On the eye test I think Cossa is the better of the two.

They're both pretty good, but I think Cossa has all the athleticism that Garand has, and the extra size to boot.

Well said. Stats do not tell the whole story, due to the quality of competition both goalies face. Cossa is athletic and intelligent as Garand, but has an extra 6 inches on him, along with also being around 30 pounds heavier. I prefer the 6 foot 7 inch goalie as my starter, who is also bigger, as my last line of defense all else being equal.

No Wyatt Johnston?
I’m of the opinion that he was the biggest omission from the selection camp.

But I guess that show’s how damn deep Team Canada is that i’m questioning an omission from an omission team.

Guhle’s ‘presence’ provides Canada with Weber-esque leadership - TSN.ca

Masters put out this article with some general information about the camp, the biggest section being a lot of generic Guhle talk. Hockey Canada is going with single rooms in the hotels going forward for covid reasons. This was also the first time I recall seeing them actually say that Johnson missed the camp due to covid protocol. According to the article he just finished his 14 day quarantine.

Bedard said he didn't like the cage, couldn't see that well, so he switched to the bubble. Couldn't see that well yet put monster pts. at U18s. I may have to up my expectations just a tad for him at U20s now that he has switched to the bubble.

As expected lot's of questions from TSN asking the d-men about how they feel playing on the right side and as also expected each guy to a man is saying they are comfortable with it, what else would they say?

TSN will be hammering this one home all tournament.

All about the narratives. Whether it's particularly informative is not the concern of media.

It would be awesome to hear at least one guy say “That was scary as s__t! Why did we DO this?!?!

lol.

Even something a little less Roenickian but still brutally honest such as " it's going to be a real challenge for me out there, I have so little/no experience with it"

Now that would give TSN a story, and we wouldn't yawn quite so much.

So these guys have been playing with cages or plexi since they were 4 yo or thereabouts, and all of a sudden have trouble seeing once they are 18yo?

Once you lose the cage - as Bedard did a year and a half ago now - it’s really difficult to go back. Those bars you learned to filter through for 10 years suddenly seem everywhere.

Well, under 18. Bedard has been wearing a visor since the start of last season, Wright since fall 2019. Once you’ve taken off the cage/bubble it’s really hard to go back. It’s even harder to put a visor back on after wearing no protection. Very few guys can do that anymore, but look at what Benn & Getzlaf have done/said about it, it’s hard to get used to and with the level of play expected of you, you need have no nuisances/anything holding you back.

With the new infections spiking so quickly across North America, I think they're going to have to add extra precautions in order for this tournament to happen. I know the players have quarantined but how isolated are they from the service workers?

Have tickets to the NYE classic and I’m starting to lose hope that we’ll be able to go.

With that said, I’d rather have no fans in the stands than no tournament at all. Will be interesting to see how they tackle this.

I am hoping that I won't be missing my son coming back at Christmas for the second straight year(he's in Canada, I'm in the US). We won't know till he gets the result of his $300 Covid test at the airport.

It would be a huge bummer for the kids if the WJC gets cancelled, but by now, we have to be used to disappointment, if not worse than that.

I really hope that hockey Canada has the guts to at least limit capacity. The players are in a bubble so they should be fine but the big issue is the fans who could pass it on to them because I doubt that the government will do anything.
