I don't want to comment on Wallinder, I remember how Monten din't nominate Söderström, it's not the first time Sweden has shot itself in the leg before the tournament.

Where the hell is the problem of choosing a coach who takes the best players available on the WJC and doesn't pick weird sets? I understand that the salary for the national team will be lower than for a SHL club, but the federation doesn't care who coaches the team at the WJC? The potential of each Monten team totally killed.

Of course SIF cares who coaches the teams, that's kind of a the big point of nepotism. Now, do they care if the coach is bad? Never. There's a reason everybody employed by SIF gets to decide if they want to re-sign or let their contracts run out.

The worst part about the clusterf*** that is the coaching of the swedish NT:S is that NO hockeywriter in the entire country has enough balls to really tear them a new one for constantly picking stupidly incompetent coaches. The last really good coach a swedish NT had was Rönnberg.

Actually Sanny Lindström really ripped Montén for the roster selections atleast.

Not selecting Wallinder and take in Sjöholm and Forsjäll....Monten is the worst coach in the history of hockey. He really is. He is nuts.

And people who think Forsjäll is good, he is minus 5 in U20 games with the NT.

Sjöholm is for sure not excellent, but this d core lacks physical defensemen and there is no denying he can play the body. With that said, I am not 100% sure I would have selected him myself, but he would not be competing with Wallinder for a spot since they are completely different type of players.

As for USA and Finland, not sure if you are familiar with their players at all? Finland, for instance, has twice as many returning players, several players that are seeing key-minutes and scoring at high pace in Liiga. Our highest scoring SHL players are two defensemen at 11 points. All our forwards at top level, except William Eklund, are basically seeing 0-10 min ice time per game in limited roles. Half of the Swedish forward crop would not make Team Finland's roster. They have just as good, if not better, top players as well.

But yeah, this is all on "paper". The fun thing about the World Juniors is that upsets do happen, although for Sweden during the past couple of years, it has mostly been a negative thing. Cruising through the group stage and then quickly/surprisingly being eliminated in the playoffs. Hopefully the tables have turned.

You are wrong. Anton Olsson, Edvinsson and Lööf is physical. There is no need to bring in Sjöholm.

Another player who is not on the roster is Sjödin. A guy who does a great job with Rögle. Åke från Allsvenskan who has 1 point in 100 games gets choosen instead.

Another thing that is crazy is that Montens grinders do not work hard or hit when playing in WJC. He tells them to stand still and just do nothing. So whats the point taking them out? Keep this in mind when watching our "grinders" and how passive they are under Montens system.

Received some inside info that the Wallinder omission was due to off-ice behavior. That would make sense, I guess. Never heard about character issues before when it comes to Wallinder, however

Tbh, Monten shouldn’t care that much about off ice behaviour. A few years ago, in Slovakia, he walked by a mosque where they had prayer and said “And here they’re creating more terrorists”, so…maybe Wallinder is actually a good persona s that didn’t work for Monten? Could be, dunno

Thought im sure Monten will find a way to bench some skilled player like Lysell and let Åke have his spot. And probaly he will bury Rosen and Olausson on the bottom line and let the likes of Ekmark and Stenman play in top lines. God help us.

If Holtz dont come, which i dont think he will, the only logical choice is to bring in Leo Carlsson, Sjödin or Lekkerimaki. Someone with skill. But i bet Monten is gonna bring Oscarson or Garfvé instead.

We have great goaltending, good top 2/3 defencemen and some skill up front. Our chances depend a lot on if some very talented but relatively unproven guys like Rosen, Olausson and Lysell can play like stars and put up good numbers. I do not think our chances are that bad. It’s not a great team but not a hopeless one.

We will very likely not challenge for gold with some of our best players missing though or course.
