After the trade (and keeping Weber on LTIR), they have $5.2m available. (And need to sign/"call up" 4-7 more guys.)

TML pundit suggests Reimer for 5th. (And that Hill is the Sharks' presumptive guy going forward.)

Personally, I'd rather keep Reimer than acquire a 5th.
Would fit perfectly with the sharks so called competing plan they have done the last 3 seasons make stupid moves to say they are trying but at the same time actually making the team worse, but not worse enough to make a difference.

If we are competing like the management teams say we are then you trade hill for whatever you can get and keep reimer.

Hi guys, I see that you have 3 NHL goalies in Reimer, Hill and Kahkonen. Do you guys think that you'll move Reimer this offseason and run with the 2 younger goalies?

Most here think Hill is the goalie that they will move. It could be Reimer if some team makes a good enough offer. It’s doubtful that they will move Kahkonen.
Thanks guys, he looks like a player that could make sense for the Oilers and is from Alberta to boot. My question is what would the asking price be for him? I believe that you guys traded a 2nd for him so I assume that your GM would be looking for something similar in return?

We traded a 2nd and Korenar for Hill and a 7th. That would probably put his value then at a 3rd but I think his value has dropped since so I’d expect a 4th or 5th rounder back. Personally, I’d look to get even less if it meant being able to tag Radim Simek in a trade with him for a 7th.

Maybe there’s a framework where Kassian and a draft pick are coming back for those two. I know Edmonton has no need for Simek but a veteran number seven and the ability to offload Kassian while addressing goaltending to some degree may be acceptable.

I don't think that we'd have a need for Simek as I am hopeful that we sign Kulak for similar money. A 4th or 5th sounds like a reasonable price. That said, management would need to be pretty confident in him if Smith retires as our only goalie under contract if that happens will be a rookie Stuart Skinner.

I would not be very confident in Hill, he was injured and had a pretty meh season. Reimer is for sure the guy I would trust more, but he would cost a second plus a decent prospect.

Of the targets listed I could see the sharks looking at Beauvillier and Puljujarvi
Beauvillier yes, Puljujarvi no. Puljujarvi was invisible most of the playoffs when I watched him. Had opportunities playing with Edmonton's top guys and didn't do much. A change of scenery would probably do him well, but I wouldn't give up much for him. Nichushkin is the guy I want.

Yeah but Nuke is going to come with a big long term contract that everyone here is going to complain about immediately.

We got quite a few bad contracts to dump. Sounds like the management team is open to discussion on anyone. The new GM is going to be busy and can't wait to see what changes are in store for the club.

So do I, but free agents arent nearly as easy to convince to come to SJ.

Nuke is old news, he’s going to get paid now. We need to find the next Nuke before he breaks out. I think that’s Puljujarvi.
Totally agree. All the signs point to a breakout in the right situation. Just not sure of the cost, if we could trade a second and a prospect or swap someone like Reimer I would love it.

What, pray tell; makes San Jose the “right situation”. I imagine the right situation would have been consistently playing with Connor or Leon or both but here we are…

Yup the Nuke ship has sailed. Would have been a nice buy low a few years ago but A) does he thrive in SJ like he does in Denver? and B) was SJ even on his radar?

Poolparty can be had via trade so he'd have no choice in the matter  He is starting to find his NHL legs and might be a nice grab for one the Sharks extra goalies.

Sometimes that just isnt the case because the system doesnt fit the players skillset. It feels to me that the Oilers set up that works best is Mcdavid doing all the work and then someone just needs to be able to shoot.

Could the rumors of Philly being active in trades this summer give us a partner? They were last in power play conversion and second in GPG for. They have bad goaltending and need offense.

Could Burns (would need to agree) and Reimer be of interest if we take JVR’s last year as a dump with a pick and/or prospect? Could retain on Reimer too; would rather not retain for three years on Burns. Not sure what a fair value trade would look like around those assets.

Burns + Gritty memes could entertain.

This would be contingent on us committing to being bad next year… which I think is likely whether the team is committed to it or not.

I have always thought that swap made some sense. JVR would be a good fit for us even though hes expensive, it would be a better use of our money than an offensive D man.
