Brewers hats are so creative

Renfoe was a good pickup and I certainly would rather have him over last year version of JBJ but I get it

I could time travel I’m at Wrigley in the bleachers drinking a cold beer

Ferguson Jenkins, Billy Williams, Ryne Sandberg, Andre Dawson and Lee Smith throwing out first ball

That’s baseball Royalty

I was such a Ron Santo & Billy Williams fan as a kid - still got their baseball cards

Jenkins Dawson & Smith played for Sox

The Jenkins to Texas trade one of 10 worst in history - @Fenway you gotta have a story on that ? Was it the Buffalo Heads club?

MLB Trade Rumors: Asked whether he would agree to an extension, he replied simply: “No.” Asked subsequently whether an offer was made, he responded, “Yeah. But it didn’t work out, and we’ll see how it goes from there.

Billy Williams, what a stick!

426 HRs 1045 BBs 1046 Ks hit .290

Played every single day for over a decade, meaning he faced all the top NL lefties (like Koufax & Spahn) as well as the likes of Drysdale, Marichal and Gibson.

He was so damn consistent

They traded Lou Brock or could have had corner outfield two HOF

Heath Hembree is pitching for the Pirates right now

And in KC Benny Biceps just knocked an RBI single in the 8th

Yeah I’m betting the house Xander isn’t back next year

Bogearts
Dodgers replacing Justin Turner at third or Trea Turner If he bolts - Mookie recruits

Or Deep pockets Dave Dombrowski picks him up

Too bad my favorite guy but 33-35 M um no

X staying is not going to happen. The Sox want to pay him as a 3B, X wants to be a SS and wants SS money. And he‘s going to get it. All it takes is one GM not caring about defense.

The Sox already know it‘s over. It was over the second they signed Story.

Devers I‘d try everything in my power to keep, but paying him FA-money is giving me pause since we don‘t know how soon he is going to end up at DH.

As a parent we have all had our kids ask for ridiculous things

Devers asking for 12-13 years is the same as a kid asking for a pony

It would be dumb

He is Elite bat but sub fielder

I am sure they will offer 8 with opt out and 25-30 M

His Defensive Runs Saved was hot garbage and he is Station to Station runner - we are not taking Mookie Betts who could run, field and throw (and no 12-13 years for him
Either)

You are paying for a DH after 3-5 years

Lot can happen in 2 years

Nick Yorke I bet gets moved to third - he’s at second but he’s got that third base feel

He’s got advanced batting eye and is a line to line machine

He was mlb 51St overall prospect on MLB Network but #40 on Baseball Prospectus

My guess is Bogearts definitely gone and Devers is a 50/50 call. However, the Sox look to be able to come out of this well

I want to keep them but Bogearts 33-35 M at age 30 and 29th SS on DRS - come on dude

Devers wanting a $300 M deal for a guy who also has poor D metrics and showed up 25 lbs at age 23 pandemic year and had to be shipped to Boston College to get him shape.

But just so you think I don’t like him I’m cool with 8 years max but that’s it - he wants more I let him walk - not paying this guy after 35 for $30 M year

Look at Cabrera Pujols and Fielder all big boned guys over 30 who saw stats deteriorate

Hell baby
Wouldn’t shock me if they go in on Trea Turner next off-season. He can move to the OF if/when Mayer is ready. Would be a wiser investment IMO- he has a ton of speed but he’s a really good hitter even if the wheels eventually go away and he can actually be an asset in the field. Dodgers may pay him though

Using the Freddie Freeman & Jose Ramirez I would offer Bogearts 6 at 27-28 as a third baseman- however, seems they are focusing on Devers

He will be starting first year at 27 to whoever gets him

I don’t see him getting all that Brooks Robinsony at third the next few years

Boston could go 8 now and allow him to opt out at 30

I am not even sure the Tigers version of Dombrowski gives Devers 10 years at that age knowing 70% is over 30 as a DH

I’m all over this as well but the Dodgers got to be on him

Carlos Correa opts out and the Sox will have JD $20 M gone, Price $16 M off books, Bogearts $20 M. If I know this Boras does - and Cora and Correa tight

I would think Sox would go hard after him especially since Yankees would appear not to be in with 2 stud prospects at SS

I can see Correa & Story here - sounds crazy but in sports nothing crazy. Right Tom Brady

Classic Padres on opening day

Yu Darvish had a no-hitter through six and Melvin took him out (reliever gave up a single to the first batter he faced).

Their new closer Suarez who was dominant in the Japanese league came in for his MLB debut to close out the game, walked the first two batters he faced on 8 pitches, hit the next batter, then they had to bring in Craig Stammen who threw a wild pitch then gave up a 3-run walkoff piece to a guy named Beer.
