Interesting topic about the overrager

in 2019, 11 kids overager (02 born) were drafted
in 2020, 24 kids overager (03 born) were drafted
in 2021, 20 kids overager (04 born) were drafted

these numbers are for atlantic+quebec

because 05 did not play last year, will we see a higher number of overager being drafted?
or will we see more invitations? I think there is an « abnormally high » number of 19 years old in the league this year, thus creating more openings for next season (Those 19 will be 20, and teams are limited on # of 20 yo)

Gerhardt also has good hockey sense, and a good skill set. He is another kid that does a lot of things pretty good but nothing that stands out. He is another player that doesn’t play a gritty game…..I’m guessing this is part of the reason these 3 have not been drafted yet.

I haven’t seen Wood this year but I do know he was a top player coming up through minor hockey that hasn’t seemed to develop in the U18 age group. His team isn’t strong, maybe if the players around him were stronger he’d be having a better year statistically. I don’t think Gerhardt or Wood get drafted, but they will likely be decent MJAHL players.

You bring up a good point, drafted or invited? The depth of the 06 group will help some 05's at the draft table, no question and it should help more drafted 05's crack the roster with all the 19/s leaving.
Ledrew likely gets drafted, Gerhart, Foster, Wood, potential invites.
Fullerton has grown and his skating has really improved as well, he is physical and has a solid work ethic. I could see Sea Dogs picking him up the later rounds.
Samuel Leblanc is a strange one, I was surprised to seem him get passed on last season, there must be something there that scouts are not comfortable with, I would say an invite is more likely for him at this point.

If croft is good enough someone will take a chance on them come June. They do not need your word. Your word is doing nothing for them leave it alone. And trying to hype other people up to make it less obvious is bad. We know you like Croft.

yes I do, but I like a lot of other kids to, maybe I pushed certain kids to hard but that’s who I am.. not gonna change.
I don’t want to hurt anyone I was only trying to get a few kids names out there that was all. I will still comments on players and how they are doing but I will be more curtious going forward. Thanks for bringing it to my attention

OK I kept my mouth shut long enough, I just can't any longer. I created this profile just for this reason.

Justlooking79 this needs to stop ! I appreciate that you like Croft, he is a great kid but seriously enough is enough. Put yourself in his shoes how would you feel ?
I personally know Croft and his family. They are great people, and after seeing the comments being made on here by you, I needed to say something, so the kid's name doesn't get destroyed. I even spoke to his Dad to let him know what was going on, It's one thing to make a comment about a kid but its another thing to go on, and on about them. It frankly pisses me off, and probably everyone else. I know his dad wasn't happy at all with the situation. You may think your helping but in retrospect your actually hurting him and his chances. Not to mention how he feels, cause I know he reads this board. Your right Croft didn't have the easiest path growing up in Minor hockey, like a lot of other kids, he was small, but that's no fault of his. Right now he is doing everything he can to follow the path he chose, and at no point is that up to you to decide. Whatever happens in June happens, no one has any control over that except the powers that be. I am not telling you what to do, but my suggestion, would be to leave Croft's name out of your posts for the time being. If a team wants him or shows interest in him they will find him, he is easy enough to find.
Am I wrong ?

Too everyone else - Great Job ! I enjoy reading the posts

This time last year everyone was talking about Janes. Thoughts ? Is he off the radar now ?
Absolutely not off the Radar, he is on a weak team this season, with several 06 D, the best of which was forced to leave the team back in November. Seeing him at the Monctonian, he looked bigger then 5'10 , but I can not confirm that. Size for a goalie is a big part of the draft process, if he is growing it could make the difference between rounds 3-4 and 8-10. Skill set it there for sure.

Is the Quebec U18 league shut down right now due to Omicron? I know PEI/NB is and I'm guessing NS as well.

Yes they are...since most of the Teams are associated with Schools, they were off the ice as well. With students back in school this past Monday, the province gave them the green light to start practicing again...25 max on the ice at a time.

Good to hear, these players are taking a major hit on their development, the sooner they get back on the ice the better. The kids that are in the USA playing seem to have a big advantage with no shutdowns, what do you think?

Definitely a edge for the kids playing in the USA.

kids in U18 registered +/- 30 games in (soon) 2 years of this crap

a kid like Dumais in BK put 50 games on the counter just last year

yah that's a big advantage when it come to development, the scouts and Q teams must take that into consideration when making up there lists

They do, however the # of kids playing in the U.S. who will actually return to play in the Q is minimal each year. So the draft is not really effected....slot 4-5 kids in over the first 3 rounds or so...at best.

Word of wisdom
In perspective, the effect will indeed be minimal

For kids who have to take a decision for their future, might be added to the balance of pros/ cons

But again, affecting a minimum # of players

Who are the top players playing in the nsu16mhl? Heard a few names but never got to see games.
A guy I haven’t seen play yet but liked a lot last year is Cohan Hickey. Strong guy and see he’s putting up lots of points as a Defense. Thoughts?

There is one playing for St-Eustache that might get picked first two rounds: Alexandre Lallier.

Probably more overager than usual this year once again.

Yes, he has some serious speed...with Ethier now gone (Shaw), Lallier will really need to pick up the slack in his absence, should be a good test from him, I am sure the scouts will be watching this one closely.

I like size over small players any day. Small guys just not as effective the higher the level. Sure there are some that can make it but those guys are exceptional. Some can be effective in major midget or prep but once you get to the levels where D are 6’2 6’4 they just can’t get it done.

I disagree I think they can get it done. In the new style of game the small guys are just as effective.
