Horvat off the table. Shame. Another potential future Bruins center out of contention. The list of suitable candidates is getting pretty small.

I would put money on Bergeron, Zacha and Coyle as the Bruins centers next year. If Pasta leaves then all bets are off

I think that's highly likely. This is it for Krejci and the money and the options just aren't going to be there to replace him any way other than internally. Bergy though seems far more likely to go round again, which should buy Sweeney time to sort out the longer term future of the Bruins down the middle. The only way I see Patrice walking at season's end is if it's after he's lifted a certain cup, and if that happens then who cares what comes next anyway?!

Statistically David Krejci is having one of the best seasons of his career. I don't really understand why fans seem to be consistently assuming he's finished in the NHL after this season.

The story his wife posted on Instagram of his daughter running towards him after he surprised her at school was precious. After seeing that, it is clear about his intentions next season.

Exactly. One season away from family, for 'one more run'. Sure, that's workable. But more than that, for a guy as family-oriented as David? No chance.

Dylan Larkin must be happy to see Horvat get 8.5. Gotta think he commands more than that.

Next few weeks are going to be interesting.

I'm fine with the Bruins not paying 8.5 a year for a career 50pt guy having a massive outlier season

I like Horvat as a player but I will admit that $8.5m p.a. is a pretty steep price to pay. However here's the thing - at the moment good players are getting PAID, especially guys who can play in the middle. At some point the Bruins are almost certainly going to need to sign up an external top 6 centre and it's going to cost a lot. It's simply a question of finding the right guy to overpay.

Maybe but never say never. Things change, many here were convinced he would never come back last year.

Panthers are spanking the Bolts.
