Even that wasn’t actually a lock considering he later said there was a 5PM deadline put on the Isles making a new offer. I think he needs to learn what a lock is

And again, this might be my homerism talking, but why on earth would he chose the Islanders over the Devils? The Islanders are almost for sure a purgatory team at this point. Not much to speak of in the pipeline either. And if commutability to family is important, LI is a nightmare compared to North Jersey.

NHL tonight guys say the Isles are much closer and a better fit. Grimson said that another small guy up front isn't what we need to win playoff hockey so the Isles might look like they could compete. Don't kill the messenger.

I’d imagine he’s playing hard ball at 10.5 or even lower. I don’t think Gaudreau can accept anything less than 10.5 without looking like a fool for leaving 8x10.5 on the table.
