He doesn't care about 2 yrs down the road if Isles get blown up when some of the older underperforming and untradeable vets like Lee, Nelson, even Palmieri are choking the cap and have to go slow retool/rebuild.

Early on I wondered if Gaudreau was just not enough of a Flyers-type player for Fletcher.

After hearing he would take a discount, knowing their ownership is gung ho on competing, that the DeAngelo signing would get JG even more stoked to play on his dream team, knowing that only thing that could prevent it was them not offering a deal and not seeing any reason they wouldn’t (I mean, surely the Flyers Identity wouldn’t f*** this up, right?)

That's a buyout eligible contract in 3 years before last two yrs kick in. Caps window (which is smaller now) is really next year or two. Once Ovie/Oshie decline further, that team will be in rebuild mode, much like the Pens.

But yeah. Pretty much his argument was "hughes is not big, hischier is not big, bratt is not big, mercer is not big"

They need to win for the new STH and they are in danger of losing Barzal.

I enjoyed one NY Isles poster saying they could get more cap space by trading Bailey/Beauvillier or
buying out Palmieri. (I remember some posters ready to give Palms a long term deal back in the day.)
