We do not need Chychrun
Wow, that’s a game changer. I’m in the office today, but gonna have to try that next time I wfh
This "Habs are taking Slafkovsky" thing has been coming out steadily from multiple credible media sources over the past week. At this point there's a lot of smoke for there to be no fire. I'm updating my expectations accordingly.
i'm not saying that they should trade for him either but the devils shipping this pick out for nhl talent is 10000000000000% what this franchise needs. it has its foundation in place with hughesx2 nico mercer bratt add to it and give them legit proven nhl talent. not another unknown that we won't know how good/bad they might be for 2-3 years. That is not a guy I want to trade 2nd overall for.
That's fine if you think that, and I'm not going to argue it, but am going to ask if you purposely ignored the rest of what I said?matt is the best player in that deal
I believe Garrioch actually does have sources with the Senators, so I'm inclined to believe that part of his speculation. But I'm less confident in what he's saying about the other teams on that list.

For a team lacking veritable top two centers, Cooley is a good pick. For the Devils, he would represent a luxury. He's a high floor kid, but he lacks the offensive upside of Hischier, and is not in the same stratosphere as Hughes.I'll be ecstatic with Cooley. In fact, I want him over Slaf.
If we got Tkachuck and went hard after Johnny , Shara is left twisting in the wind with no spot to play that’s makes sense . Him as a 3rd line winger is a waste .Too much. #2 and 2023 protected 1st is a huge package already. I would throw in Walsh too. Once you start adding even more guys with value from the roster like Sharangovich, it’s not worth it.
i listened a little to that press conference yesterday when amanda asked about listening to offers and trading the pick. fitz immediately looked down and away when answering no. #heard it here first the pick gets dealt. After listening to Fitz it's pretty clear that the Canadian media doesn't know jack shit about what NJ is doing and just throws our names out there because we're a small market team with a small media footprint that doesn't like to push back publicly. They can attribute anything to us and won't get a response, so they can either drum up drama and clicks,
I don't buy it and and I don't want Chychrun.

I'd say I like high-floor picks more than most, but not at #2 overall -- and a high-floor pick in a position you're already deep in makes absolutely zero sense. With Wright, this changes because Wright has more offensive upside than Hischier, though again he's not on Hughes' level.
A Wright pick to me would give the Devils a chance to have a 1A/1B/1C center trio with three completely different skill sets. But if you're drafting Cooley, I think you're saying right off the bat you're drafting a #3 center behind a 1A/1B of Jack and Nico, because Cooley just doesn't have the same upside as those two.
Slafkovsky would clearly be the upside pick if available. I'd rate his upside as probably the highest in the 2022 class, give or take Wright, with Lambert and Miroshnichenko right behind them. Cooley is the high-floor guy to me you take if you really need a top 6 center, like Arizona or Philly or Columbus. I'd say Cooley's floor is second-highest in the draft after only Wright.

Did he look to the right though? That signals deceiti listened a little to that press conference yesterday when amanda asked about listening to offers and trading the pick. fitz immediately looked down and away when answering no. #heard it here first the pick gets dealt.
Knah just really didn't understand it to even be bothered. matt is the better player currently in that situation and chances are good will end up being better career.
