I've seen on a Mock Draft on NHL.com that someone has Lambert potentially falling to us at 26. I remember hearing a ton about this guy last year and he seemed to have completely fallen off.

Would it be worth it to take him if he falls that far or is it even realistic he makes it to us?
Isn’t that a player with an overbearing, boorish meddling father?

Luckily we have prior experience with this kind of know-it-all.

Kent: Can someone bring me the Tinordi and Galchenyuk files?

Journal de Montreal's mock draft, from polling of 7 scouts. 3 first place to WRight, 3 to Cooley, one to Slaf. Wright still ranked no.1
Les Coyotes seront heureux d’ajouter un centre dynamique et spectaculaire, capable de garder les futurs 5000 partisans à Tempe sur le bout de leur siège !”

That’s an interesting theory. Does anyone know offhand what it typically costs to move up from 3 to 1? Could they hypothetically use what they get for that plus the 26th pick in a package to get another top ten pick and leave the first round with Cooley and Lekkerimäki?
Probably a 3rd

What would be f***ed up is if we pass on the two centres to select Slafkovsky, and next season we're just good enough not to draft in the top 10 and miss out on another centre. I think this team will more than likely suck next year, but I wouldn't bet my house that they're going to draft Top 10.

Thanks for all the posts and convos the last few months everyone! I think I've said everything I wanted to about the 1OA in the entry draft threads.

Wright's still my guy, Cooley a not far off second, and Nemec third. Lock down that center position!!

Can't wait to celebrate with you all when the Habs draft Wright, Lekkerimäki/Nazar, and Hutson as the first 3 picks :D

As Hughes said, position comes into play when the quality of player is comparable.

Quality, then position.

Quality keeps Nemec out of the top 3.

Position could determine who gets picked from the top 3 since the quality of comparable.
The 3 or final 2 would have to be in a real dead heat. If that happened, it would be validating the outcome begotten from Bob’s scouts.

Same top 3 as I have. I keep flipping Nemec and Cooley as #2 and 3.

In some years the cost would have been huge, like in the KK draft.

This situation is different with 2 similarly ranked centers. Arizona might prefer Wright but may not pay a lot with Cooley there. … maybe one of the late firsts.
While I think this is what Hughes is trying, I don’t think he’ll pull it off.

The main board draft thread on Wright is absolute garbage oh my god what happened to this forum.

At least we have HFHabs.
Yeah I’ve never seen such negative feedback towards a top prospect. We get it, you like others more than him, but you don’t have to drag him down like McCagg.

I'm starting to think Hughes just wants to trade down to #3 so gets the easy pick and nobody gets mad
Then I don’t want him to be the GM if he’s reluctant to make the hard decisions. Decide who you rate as the top player and take him.

Trading down for the one that falls just tells everyone in the arena that you’re not really impressed by any of them. If you pick your top guy at 1, whoever it is, you can eventually convince the fans that it’s the correct decision.
