Take the C this year. No guarantees what happens next year. Might be 6-10th overall who knows. Even if Wright doesn’t become a superstar he will still get 20/25 goals and can play in all zones. Slaf could be the next Yakupov for all we know.

Or he could also end up being on the complete other end of the spectrum.

I mean HuGo surrounded themselves with a f*** load of hockey minds in the last few months. It's very possible that they see a higher ceiling in him than in Wright and they're confident in the personel and tools they have to develop him the right way.

But let’s put it this way, and I’m just throwing our random numbers here lol

Option A: 95% chance you have a reliable 50-60 point top 6 two-way C, and a smaller chance he ends up a full-on star player.

Option B: 20% chance you have an 80-90 point “power winger” who is a physical specimen even if he doesn’t yet fully use it to his full ability. Flashes of a dominant player, but 80% chance he doesn’t reach that lofty expectation and also a good chance he busts.

Who would you go with as a GM? And I don’t meant you specifically lol just in general. It’s a major risk but high reward IF it works out.
20percent? Id say 5 and im not even exaggerating. It's mind boggling that we cant be sure they are gonna pick the safe pick.

Even if he turns into an another suzuki. With both wingers around them its 70points a season easily. Might not be superstar but they will efficient overall and make us win

The answer is clear to me too.

Easy for me. Let's go A. But I really really really soon need to hear about we are going Wright or Cooley.

I would hate the Slaf pick is the reasoning is this...TRYING to transform him into a C. That would be awful. We know how that works out....And having to go bigger ,cause you know...Brady Tkachuk. I really can't believe I'd hear that from those guys.

I'M so f***ing tired...let's get it on!!!!!!

Apparently its not out of the realm that they view Slaf as a center. Apparently he played quite a bit in the junior leagues according to Sam Cosentino? Apparently Gorton also went to Kakko when they were going to draft him and asked how he felt about being a center (kakko requested to stay at wing). Was in the Athletic NHL podcast
Oh goodness no. I don’t think he fits there at all.

Let's turn a guy with questionable offense and potential hit and then finish him off to play him as a center.

Then pick the 2 other centers then

We all wanna watch more scouting videos right?!!!!!!!!

New video from St. Louis.

You have to wonder if the meeting wth Slaf is indeed this....

Dear Juraj. WE will pick you Number 1. Now...you will be booed. A LOT. People will criticize you even before you step on the ice. A LOT. But we have fath you will overcome that. And when you do, you'll be able to do the finger on the mouth gesture AND the hand to the ear too.....

If they are drafting him they HAVE to prepare him. I guarantee you the BC will be yelling Shane Shane Shane right before the pick.

The meeting with slaf was supposed to happen today but his flight got delayed and the interview was moved to tomorrow

We have at least 2 but probably like 5 threads going on the draft and trades leading up to the draft. Can we create one uber megalodon thread to end all threads for this so I dont have to keep flipping through threads to find out what’s happening?

you know that's my take. But when there's no clear BPA....go indeed with the natural C.
However, they may have established greater separation in their internal assessments given all the resources that none of us have access to.

Whether it's today or tomorrow, there is no doubt in my mind that they already know who they pick. So why meet him tomorrow? What's crossing a T or dotting I, if it's not to prepare him for something.

Which is 2 things. We draft you and you will be booed. Or we don't draft you and thank you for you time. Somehow, I feel that the first one is more crossing and dotting and the other. You don't owe kids any explanations why you don't pick them. It would be to go out of their way.

Do we seriously thing we are interviewing him today or tomorrow for additional info? Makes no sense.

Take the safe pick.

If we take Slaf and Wright is better, I'll be pissed. If we take Wright and Slaf ends up better then so be it. First overall is not the time to take risks

I think Kent and Co. have said exactly zilch to anyone outside The Familia.

He hasn’t played drop a hint/ stir the hive, just keeps all options open, all the time. He’s gaining respect, day after day.

Molson hit one out of the park with HuGO.

Hopefully Habs have the No. 1 next year, and we’ll all know 100 per cent - weeks before the draft - that C. B. will be CH.

I like dreamin’…

Probably just want to finish what they planned but oh man picking slaf over Wright seems like the dumbest idea ever
