Somewhere on earth in a hospital
Detroit is probably targetting Lekkerimaki and Anaheim is probably targeting Nazar. Need the Sens pick if we want to get one of those two guys. I'm not a fan of trading a guy like Anderson to a rival like the Sens, but we aren't really going anywhere with him.
Well on the bright side , when he will be on the ice and we will have the puck , it will be a constant 5v4

I guess the Wright one will be published later. 2 good reads on sportsnet;

Cooley looks like a golfer.

There was one thing that Kent said that makes me think they might actually pick Slafkovsky. It was his long digression about players who have the ability to get better, and how much he values it, giving the example of Brad Marchand.

Slafkovsky had one of the biggest gaps in play this year. From playing his way off the team at the start of the year to doing what he did in 2022 is a big jump.

I will lose all confidence in HuGo if we pick Slaf and he turns into another Armia while Wright/Cooley are top 6 Cs.

I wonder what the poll result would look like today from this thread from May:

I think Lavoie lost his access when Bergevin and Timmins were canned.

That said, there is a lot of smoke in the air and truly no one knows who the Habs will draft. Makes for nervous moments for us, doesn't it? :)

Then Hughes went on to talk about the entire body of work, not just one tournament.

I also think the sentiment you talked about could apply to Cooley. He added a lot of offense to his game from the beginning of the year and really picked his spots better in the U18.

I'm wondering now if Kuznetsov would be a good comparable for Cooley.

I was thinking about the people worried about Cooleys shot and I think his shot is as good as Backstrom or Kuznetsov. Where he can score but prefers to pass and is good for 20-25 most years but with high assist numbers.

I know some are worried about Renaud Lavoie's comments, but to be honest, all this does is prove to me that there are no inside leaks anymore. His comments come off as pure speculation and somebody who's grasping at straws, like pretty much all the other reporters at the moment.

Gorton, Hughes, Machabee and all the other members of the organization are really running a tight ship at the moment.

Carry over from draft thread, in which Bob McKenzie said both Wright and Slaf are second liners. I would trade the pick

For first overall carries tremendous value. Trade down maybe? Sportsnet had a segment on Savoie today. Said he is Johnny Gaudreau like. I say trade down select him. Small speed skilled, will go just outside top 5.

That's quite a day get an 18 year old Johnny Gaudreau and another major asset on same day. They say Savoie was first overall pick in WHL. James Patrick is his head coach. He would know. Played all those years in NHL.

What went wrong, in your opinion? What's the primary lesson?

I think Kotkaniemi is a talented player, but when you're drafting players you have to get the right price for them. In particular with KK, he had a major deficiency that players drafted after him didn't have, and there wasn't enough compensation for it.

Brady was bigger, stronger, the better skater, more NHL ready prospect.
Quinn was one of the very best skaters in the draft, and his production for his position was actually just about off the charts.

Just a foolhardy pick that was followed up by suicidal development.

Just take Nemec, floor of a 2nd pairing, ceiling of elite PMD, RHD on top of that and can bring him over to play in the AHL, he’ll be ready when the other pieces are in place to contend

Could be an option. Flyers pick you mean? I still take the forward though, Gaudreau type. It's 100 points
