By this time, the decision has been made. Usually the head scouts and brass agree on their #1 guy. So the news has been disseminated and opportunities for leaks increase severalfold. I think there’s going to be a lot more noise going forward.

For sure, our terrible development system didn’t help.

The point is more about KK’s skating/balance issues being expected to vanish over time ‘’and then what an amazing player he’d become’’.
This kind of turnaround happens 1 in a 1 000 or so.

A better development plan could have turned KK into a more useful player but his upside was just never the same as others with more assets to their game.
With KK and his clear lack of balance would you say that by getting him this early that we got "bambizled"?

Very interesting that Slaf is meeting again with the habs tommorrow, on draft day! 🤞🏻
My guess is the Habs' brass is posturing to plant a seed of doubt in NJ's management heads. Probably looking to get an asset from them and flip picks. Imagine if it backfires and Jersey picks Wright

It has to be posturing. They already know who they’re picking. It‘s a pointless meeting whether or not they pick Slafkovsky.

At the Combine, Habs had dinner with 3 prospects: Wright, Cooley and Lekkerimaki
It's easy to understand Wright and Cooley, for the 1st overall pick.

Lekkerimaki? That one never made sense to me.

Now that we're hearing rumors that Sens and Habs might be talking about a trade involving the 7th overall pick.....it suddenly make a ton of sense to have met with Lekkerimaki if you have that pick.

Now you have Dorion saying it's 50-50 that they trade their pick.
They just bought out Colin White, making some cap space........

Getting out of the draft with a combo of Wright (or Cooley) and Lekkerimaki is very interesting.

And here Dreger says no one knows
believed Molson may be involved and its more likely they take Wright
and Lebrun says Hughes has told teams, if they don't get value back for Petry.. they'll play him next year

Getting out of the draft with a combo of Wright (or Cololey) and Lekkerimaki is very interesting.

And for them to take Lekkerimaki to dinner at the combine over a month ago, it is possible Habs were already engaged in trade talks with Sens (and maybe other teams in the Top-10) since then.

Bruce Garrioch tweeted a few days ago also that Habs have been talking to every team in the Top-10 with the hope they can get another pick in the Top-10.

I can only imagine the Bell Center erupting if after Jackets make their pick and Bettman comes on stage "We have a trade to announce"

Regarding Petry and Anderson, the fact they still have term works in Habs' favor because they don't need to be in a rush to trade them and "take whatever they can get before the lose them."

It would be even better if they came out with Wright and Jiricek. I'm not sure my body could handle it.

I'll add that if, at the Combine, they took Lekki out for dinner, it means that the trade talks for a pick between 5-10 were pretty positive and they were confident a deal was feasible.

Maybe i'm just biased but it feels like the top players in this draft are lobbying so much harder to be taken first than other close drafts. Like they not only want to go first overall but they want to play in Montreal especially
Because no one wants to play in a college rink nor in Newark, New Jersey.

Exactly why I didn’t vote. I’m more interested in the deals Hughes concludes. I’d love to see the 1OA traded.
I'm more than fine with that if it is a prudent, astute move that will improve the team for the foreseeable future.much to the chagrin to many though.

Never underestimate the Hockey World's view on Big, Can Skate guys.

Hughes has been subtly driving the price up for Andy in the media, saying people are calling but it's gonna take a boatload to get him. I dunno. Seems to be some smoke there.

Anderson playing with Tkachuk in Ottawa would be kind of deadly for them, not gonna lie.
Oh i think he gets traded but alot of you guys think we're getting a top 10 pick by trading players like Anderson or Dvorak Lol that will never happen
