Having made the 8 hour drive many times from New Brunswick, I feel for the kid. You wanna quit after hour 6 or so and then you have to contend with MTL traffic as you roll in.

God I must love the Habs. Stupid sexy team.
During the War of 1812, "Canada" had gained control of the northern half of Maine. Once the war was over, we just gave it back. Pisses me off. It adds 2-3 hours to the trip having to go up and around.

Seems obvious to me. They probably want to prepare the kid for post draft interviews.

That's the agents job.

Habs kept everything tight lipped, talked about making the selection as being the surprise and giving the kid that moment and suddenly they're gonna do a 180 the day of the fdraft?

I dont know, they all met together, the decision is probably done at that point.

«S'il est repêché par les Canadiens, je vais être surpris, a indiqué Renaud Lavoie à La Dose. Ce gars-là n'a pas répondu aux attentes.

«Si les Canadiens repêchent Shane Wright, je serai content pour le kid, mais je serais très surpris. Je pense que je tomberais en bas de ma chaise.»

Renaud throwing shit at the wall hoping it sticks. He kissed MB's ass so much in the last decade to have scoops and now his daddy and his friends are gone he's got nothing left.

Which makes me wonder what his motive is. If he hasn't heard anything, which a lot of us are assuming, is he looking to make HuGo look bad to casual fans (if they choose Wright) with the whole "this is so shocking!" narrative?

It's going to look even more bizarre if they do pick Wright. Like why?
Thinking a bit more about it, seems to me like that guy trying to be the smartest in the room but is in fact trailing behind the parade.

Renaud: Hey guys, did you know that actually, Wright didn't play like a generational player this season?:propeller
Everyone else: Yeah, welcome to like Nov 2021.
Now for some actual arguments maybe?

Could be as simple as that

Cooley saying that he and Caufield are both USNDTP products. Cooley is more a playmaker and that would make him and Cole a good 1-2 punch.

Did anyone tell him Suzuki is already BFFs with Cole?

Funny that all 3 prospects mention they want to play with Caufield.

The decision has to be done that's why I don't get why they would meet with him tomorrow. I actually can't find a viable reason for it.
Keep the pressure alive for a NJ pick swap is all I can see - that or they are picking him and wanted to practice the group dance that they will all do as he gets on stage.

What's the point? They've done everything so far to keep it all tight wrapped, why unravel it right before it happens?

I'm missing something just not sure what.
If Hughes is able to pull off a trade with Arizona, he’ll have to be ready for the possibility that NJ does the unexpected. Slaf might still be there at 3.

The interview is another step in the process of getting to know the player.

Maybe i'm just biased but it feels like the top players in this draft are lobbying so much harder to be taken first than other close drafts. Like they not only want to go first overall but they want to play in Montreal especially
