It’s nice and great to get a high pick and high potential but the devils to me have enough youth and potential. Trade the pick I say for legit nhl young talent. Let another team take a risk on the second pick panning out. As good as Luke holtz or muk might look now they still have a long way to go. You have jack nico on team friendly deals. Use that get the core some needed help. The kid at 2nd isn’t making the nhl this year so that means probably 3 years before they contribute regularly.
What about sending mtl the 2oa for Anderson + CGY1st 2022 + MTL 2nd 2022

I can safely guarantee (with @StevenToddIves 's input of course) that Slaf will be NOTHING like Zacha.

NOTHING.
Slafkovsky and Zacha are not even from the same country, so in this sense it's an even stupider argument than what we somehow endured two years ago with: "we shouldn't draft Lucas Raymond because he's just like Tedenby!!"

Did Twitter or Reddit crash tonight? A lot of unfamiliar names in here
Yeah, but at HFBoard we have the very best Devils draft day coverage.

Getting a guy like Slafkovsky to actual reach his upside is the hardest part. Those types of players tend to bust or stall way more often than boom. I think Nemec by far is the best option here at 2 unless they grab Cooley and hope he thrives at the wing

To respond to the Cooley fans, I wouldn't mind him....IF THE DEVILS HAD THE #3 OR #4 PICK.

Cooley is not good enough to be chosen #2.

Slaf is.

And as far as Nemec goes? Eh.

I don't see Fitz being all that enamored with him.

It will be between Slaf and Jiricek...and Fitz I think would choose an offensive player since he chose a DEFENSIVE player last draft in Luke.

Cooley will not be the pick.

"A guy like Slafkovsky" is a tough thing to contextualize. Much less: "those types of players". When was the last 6'4-220 forward who also offered the best combination of elite passing vision and puck-handling in his draft class?

Would Canucks do 2nd for Hughes
The Devils would be foolhardy to take such a deal. They are deeper organizationally at LD than literally any other position. The Devils biggest needs are a top 6 power/skill forward and a 1-RD, and both of those players will be sitting there at #2 overall.

I heard a report saying the devils would be open to trading the pick

As a Habs fan, gotta ask, do you think the devils would trade the 2nd overall pick for Anderson, any Habs prospect not named Guhle, the Calgary 2022 first rounder and the Florida 2023 first rounder?
