People want more out of a 1st overall than a player that seems like he might end up only being a 2C, hence why shaky narratives are pushed about other players to make them seem worthy of the 1st spot.

If his ”floor” was 2C, he absolutely would be the runaway first pick and the easiest pick ever, that’s just common sense.

Not really, depends on how likely you believe the player would exceed their floor potential.

A player pictured as "most likely" to be a 2C wouldn't necessarily be picked over a player pictured as "could maybe" become a franchise winger.

You don’t seem to understand how insane of a floor 2C would be, not many players from any draft ever reach that level, and if that was just his floor, meaning he wouldn’t be worse than that.

I already stated my hot take in a previous thread but I guess I will double down here. Shane Wright is going to be one of the better players in the NHL and will one day have his jersey number lifted into Montreals' rafters.

whoever Montreal drafts 1st overall will be a disappointment and booed out of town within 5 years (due to unrealistic expectations)

Wright will be fairly good but will get labelled a bust for not being excellent. He probably goes between 5 and 10 in a redraft. His first season in the league will mirror Cole Sillinger and he becomes a good two way C.

Said it before…Evan Konyen will be the steal in the fourth round.

Logan Cooley will be the best player in the draft.

Both Cutter Gauthier and Connor Geekie are underwhelming (Gauthier is a second liner, Geekie is a 600 game bottom six). They get drafted 5-10 spots higher than they should because “you can’t teach size” copyright Brian Burke.
