Ostlund is small but got some offensive pazzazz, stickhandling and skating are quite nice. Good finish too.

If you can bare the music (and the first half is kinda lame, but it's like pee-wee and under15):

I didn't see this posted, but Pronman did a mock in the Athletic today fwiw

26. New York Rangers: Noah Ostlund, C, Djurgarden-Sweden Jr.

Ostlund may be the prospect with the largest variance among teams right now. I’ve talked to scouts who think he’s a top 15 pick and some who don’t see him as a day 1 pick. The Rangers have a lot of good young players coming, but a center is their one glaring need in the system. Ostlund would provide skill, speed and compete down the middle even if he lacks size.

He sounds fun.

I think we're going to steer clear of Euros with high picks for a while though. Swedes are usually pretty safe in that regard, but just the hunch I get.

I saw a Canuck fan offering 1(15) for later picks/ prospects. Do you think it would be possible to get that pick for Kravtsov and Lundkvist?

I would hope it takes less than that. Krav + something minor. Shouldn't be trading Nils rn.
Kravtsov will be lucky to fetch a 2nd right now, but he doesn't have a future here in NY. I like Nils as a prospect but you can not win in the playoffs with 2/3 smallish defensemen. Although I think both are very good prospects with the Rangers being committed to Fox (and there is no reason to not be committed to him) , no way we can have Nils and Jones in the lineup with him. So if you can move 2 assets that are not going to play for you to get to 15th and possibly get a future 2nd line center you do it every day of the week.

Luckily this is not going to happen. For 15th overall? Terrible value IMO. If Krav is lucky to fetch a 2nd, you don't trade him. That is a sucker move. His upside is WAY higher than the average 2nd round pick and he's NHL ready NOW. Terrible sell low move. Saying a guy has low trade value in relation to his upside is the reasoning for NOT trading him. Get him to the NHL give him some games and see what happens. Odds are MUCH better that he hits than that a 2nd rounder does. And if you don't like what he brings, the mere fact that he's in NA playing raises his trade value. The worst thing we could possibly do is sell low or use him as a throw in.
I agree though that either Jones or Nils will be going.

his upside and him being nhl ready are meaningless if he's not going to ever play for the rangers. To recoup actual value on VK he needs to play in a north american league (ahl/nhl). Reportedly he asked out. He refused his hartford assignment (and for the life of me i cannot get why drury let him play for traktor this year, burning a year on his ELC). VK has played exactly 20 games for the rangers. He's now 22 years old. He's lost a lot of luster that he had years ago.
I'd rather use him to move up as much as possible this draft where the value is gonna swing wildly and maybe get a faller.
Yeah it might end up being a terrible trade for us. But I'd rather take the L here than just have an asset rot.

"he's not going to ever play for the rangers" is a false premise. He's publicly said he wants to play here (that it was his "dream" even), and has committed to coming over during the summer to get ready. And even if he just comes to prepare and THEN gets traded he will have far more value. I don't think there's any way Drury will sell that low on him, and rightfully not.

All of that is PR speak. His actions Speak a lot louder than his words. He’s coming over here this summer? Funny enough he’s still not here yet and his season is over.
We’ve heard those words from Kratsov before, but each time I believe them a little less.

The word "summer" mean anything to you?
Listen, I get what you are saying, and hey, you might even end up being right, but I'm going to go with what has been publicly expressed by both sides as far more likely. And I'm sticking with my statement that trading him for the equivalent of a 2nd rounder is terrible asset management, hell that's what we got for Anderson with a 5th the upside of Krav and similar baggage.

uh andersson got us a 2nd. which got us William Cuylle

Yes. We got "lucky"/drafted well and he will hopefully play in the NHL. But you are missing the point here. Anderson, with far LESS upside and similar baggage got us "Cuylle" .... so logically we should get more for the player with the far higher upside, no? And do you expect most 2nd rounders to end up as well as Cuylle? Somewhere around 70% of 2nd round picks never become NHL regulars.

I think this is the year to have as many picks as possible as if we trust our scouting, there could be alot of guys who go late rounds who make the NHL.
Covid messed up both scouting and development for a bunch of kids. So we could catch a late bloomer that scouts missed, or guys who slip because covid messed with their seasons.
That said, the top end of this draft class has some fantastic centers. Cooley I think jumps in immediately and has upside almost as high as hughes and he's likely going 3rd.

Yeah. I think we only disagree on what the best course is with Kravtsov. I can live with that difference if you can buddy!

Rangers have options. I can’t see us qualifying Georgiev but he’s not unrestricted and there has always been interest around the league. We should at least be able to get a 4th for him.

Kravtsov we can move or not. Drury‘s going to have to figure out whether he can work with him or not. Keeping in mind that Vitali will need to win and hold on to a top 9 winger position. There is no way I’d keep him on the roster to play on our 4th line. If we’re going to be a contending team in the future we need a 4th line of players who know their roles not kids who we just throw out there because we don’t know what else to do with them.

As fa as this year’s draft. Best player available. If there’s a tie between forward and d--I’d go with the forward. Between someone who might play C and a wing I’d go with the C. I wouldn’t go into this draft with the idea though that we have to take a center no matter what though.

MacDermid of Colorado is the best fighter in the league. He has a very long reach and almost always gets a good grab and then it’s pretty much over as he has a lot of power behind his punches. The only one who gives him problems is Lucic and that’s because Milan tends to make himself a smaller target and doesn’t grab back but counterpunches that move. MacDermid’s not a very good player though.

As far as Hartford Richards had a shit year. It’s always a question players making the jump from juniors, college or Europe to the AHL. Particularly with CHL players going from playing boys to men. It’s a question to some degree though for all our C prospects.

I understand that in Copp trade our 2nd 2022 becomes 1st 2022 if we beat Carolina and play inECF
I'm hoping that happens If it does NYR wont have much draft capital to do any manuvering

Gaucher was strong tonight in Quebec’s 3-2 win over Shawinigan. He’s definitely in that 25-32 range and maybe even higher on boards of teams looking to add size, toughness, and skill at center in a Backes kind of way.

He’s a bee hive of activity. Same with his linemate Malatesta, except Gaucher looks half a foot taller. All out, all the time. Also wears the “A” despite the team being loaded with ‘01s and ‘02’s. Physical, can finish, deceptive speed, good hands, leadership, etc.
