Pieniniemi best Finn today had really good game

also Vinni and Kiviharju solid thou couple badish plays

Watching Ratzlaff's parents in that clip, especially his mom, reminded me of an old hockey truism.

Forward makes a mistake, and the guys on the ice know it. Defenseman makes a mistake and half the building sees it. Goalie makes a mistake, everyone sees it, and he takes full blame.

Happy my boys played out.

Well, that will give me a reprieve from them yapping for one week anyway, one counts their blessings no matter how small.

Unfortunately I think they are the slight faves coming up for the WJC, insert major groan here.

Really want to watch this Czech-Sweden game but it's already 10:30 here, dare I put on the kettle?

I think Hlinka and Summer showcase are played roughly same time next year if so Kiviharju will be in u20 tournament instead of Hlinka. *Note to Button

Nice to see Canada get challenged, for 2 periods anyway. I'll wager the Swedes are licking their chops for a 2nd crack at them.

My advice - play a perfect game and get some breaks. Oh, don't forget to beat Czechia later tonight first.

They’ll be out in droves when the WJC starts.

Not sure what to think of the team Canada is bringing, a lot of guys from the December team aren’t there for the upcoming one.

Looking forward to seeing Bedard.

Oh will they ever, should be fun.

I'm pretty geared up for the tourney now, and yeah....................Bedard will be must watch t.v. I think we will have a good team but we are in tough for gold, I'm not sure I am crazy about that defense we have.

Kettle? It's Friday night.
I've had to do away with the booze in my advancing years unfortunately, it's all about health now.

Well, my hope for this game was that Finland scores more than 0 goals and I guess they did so can't be too upset considering the expectations, but...

Man, Finland's players are just so bad at the basics. Handling the puck, passing the puck, receiving passes... It's just a complete disaster. More often than not, the first touch is a failure, and if not that then the second. Can't get anything going.

Also, Halttunen was completely invisible for a supposed top prospect.

Not to pick on you specifically, because I've seen a lot of this attitude. It really bothers me how easily many Euro posters get down on their teams.

Canada is historically dominant in this tournament, and has an especially deep and talented team this year. Neither team played their best game tonight. Finland hung with Canada for 2 periods, and easily gave them their toughest match so far.

The crisp-passing, puck quickly up the ice, total puck support Finland team we saw against, e.g. my USA squad, wasn't out there tonight only because of the quality of their opponent.

Sisu.

Well I already said that I was satisfied with the result.

But really, whether Canada is good or not has little to do with the fact that the players couldn't hold onto the puck for longer than a touch or two even without receiving significant pressure.

Cheering for Tre Kronor. Out of these two teams, it's the only one with a slight chance of giving Canada even a decent game.

Get out of bed, get in here, and support your team @Eye of Ra !

Sweden with significant zone time, but no clear scoring chances. Czechs having difficulty entering the zone and retaining possession. Bit of a yawner so far.
